    Some may offer a pro-rata type system, they don't. Personally I don't see it as unreasonable.

    I don't think this is unreasonable. The notice period starts from the first full month following the request to terminate. It's not great but it could be worse. You wouldn't be batting an eyelid (nor noticing probably) had you, by chance, informed them of your desire to quit on the 30th or 31st.

    Oh yes. That's right.

    The point I was making was that the company has no need whatsoever to give notice to the bank that they want no money this month, or they want a different amount this month.
    The only notice is entirely within the company's administrative systems.
