You sound well organised with the accounting and once you sort using an Accountant you can agree categories with them that work for you and the tax return. Wouldn't worry you haven't given out a receipt in the early days, but good you are now.
Biscuits sound fab with the garlic and rosemary, I'll try that on my next batch.Have you ever made liver cake? I haven't come across a recipe on here, but is meant to be highly sought after by dogs - one of the local dog-walking fraternity had some in their pocket and had all the dogs around them - wouldn't leave her side :rotfl: I must look into that, the Springer tends to need something a bit special for recall when the foxes and monkjacks have been out.
This is what I love about MSE - shared tips that save us money as well as the debt-busting support and motivation to keep going and do more.
Hope you're more comfortable this evening and resting up.Back on the DFW Wagon:

Wow! I got so caught up in my own accounts, I hadn't made it over here for a few days ... oh my word! I feel like a complete amateur
I don't do anything like that, even when my income was more than twice what it is now
I just have an arch file with lots of plastic pockets in, and put all the receipts into categories - sort each one out by date order, and Bob's your uncle ... for years, I had an accountant, and the thing that she taught me was to reconcile the bankings - it gradually got easier - but I do it all myself now, and luckily I make hardly any mistakes on the bankings nowadays (working out the change when clients paid in cash used to drive me crazy, but its all round figures now!).
I've only just started to use Open Office Worksheet, so that I don't have to add it all up myself - thats how far behind I amnever mind, its good enough ... and when I'm earning proper money again, I will *certainly* go to an accountant!

I think both of us can learn a thing or two from Ali on this one!But if the system you have works for you Karma then why change it? My "system" isn't working as I waste inordinate amounts of time trying to find things and reconstructing what happened. I need to record as I go along for my own sanity!

Here are the dog biscuits (OH had given me the bone-shaped cutters years ago but I have never used them!):
Two out of three now turning their noses up - the third would eat them all day! Think I need to improve my flavouring. Suggestions so far - sardines/pichards, cheese, salmon oil, peanut butter - any MSE thoughts? Don't want to up the cost of these too much but want them all to enjoy.0 -

Must do that from now on - in fact, I could do that this evening if I'm watching tv (ooh, and I am - last ever episode of Stargate Atlantis is on tonight :rotfl:). Well, notes on the bank statements is a start, but I think I may go back to that post of Ali's.

Thanks Ellidee - will definitely record it. I feed mine raw anyway so I know what they are getting but I have a lot of clients who feed all kinds of things and I am sure some have an influence on behaviour.0 -
Doggie biscuits look amazing using the bone cutters - I'm eyeing some up on Amazon - think I might get some as they'll be a long term investment.
I had a bit of a google for different flavours for biscuits and seems cheese and peanut butter are popular ingredients. Wish I'd have bookmarked them now.I'll get back onto that at the weekend. Ooh, there's a lonely tin of pilchards in the cupboard, since I still haven't fancied eating them since I bought them (probably 2 summers ago) it's about time someone did
Thanks for the heads up on the Channel 5 programme tonight, shall watch that with interest.
Apologies if I've come across a bit strong on the accounts stuffI am a bit Miss Organised & Efficient and also a bit Miss Paranoid where HMRC are concerned. When I do my daily bank account check, I do the business one too - any change and I add to my spreadsheet - this is normally at 6am
Dedication I say, also a bit because it's just me earning with DS to support, I like to know every step of the way what is happening money wise. Better now I have built the £3k buffer, but I still worry if I'll earn enough each month to cover all the bills.
Sorry, rattling on againWill get back in my box
