My jury service was 3.5 weeks.

Take a good book, as you spend a lot of time hanging around.

And if you want to be MSE, take a pack lunch, as they'll then pay you the reasonable lunch allowance!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Surely they would need to be half-asleep to request capital punishment!!! :D

100 hours community service didn't quite have the same impact :rotfl:

How long does the letter say you will be expected to serve? I've known people do only a week and I've heard of some who had to do 12 weeks.
Yeah I was on jury service when I was 18 (had my 19th birthday at the Old Bailey!) for two months and sequestered to a hotel also at the end!

I got an exemption from jury service after that from the judge for 5 years!

My last Jury service resulted in my being released after Day 1. Many are called but few are chosen - and there are always more called than required. Whether you will be called to actually serve on a jury will be a lottery.

Treat it as such - it is not a foregone conclusion.

The last place I worked the shifts were 4 on 4 off so included weekends as normal working time.

When one bloke had to do jury service he had to come in on the weekends or not get paid and couldn't claim for those days.

A better employer might have used their discretion and let him have the weekends off paid.

wow , so you could be sentenced to death by 12 jurors that have just got off a 12 hour night shift and are half asleep :eek::eek:

Only in a country that had the death penalty - and we don't!

    oh thanks didn't realise

well as long as they can't sentence someone to death, lets provide beds for these tired jurors, they can get some kip during the trial :rotfl:

I know the form asks whether you can do a half day if you get released at lunchtime, obviously for shift workers or where the employer needs a certain no. of bums on seats they need to know who will definitely be there and don't want people turning up randomly.

If there's an HR dept, I'd ask them about your Saturdays ... point out it will make the stats look bad!
