Three Sim Only Pay As You Go

I have a 3 pay monthly phone and want a Pay as you Go Sim for an old phone for emergencies only. I have ordered a free sim on line and see I can top it up via voucher etc. Because it will be used very infrequently I do not want to top up with plans that only last 30 days. If I buy a voucher for £10, how long will this remain valid before I have to top up again. I find the 3 web site confusing so any help would be appreciated.

Indefinitely - until you use it all - provided that you do use it sometimes.

To be safe I should make a call at least before 6 months are up, if I understand the quote from 3 correctly, and thereafter the same.

Easiest way is to put a reminder in your phone's calendar to make a call or send a text every four or five months so you don't forget when to do it. Works for me.
