I wrote a report on them a while back.

Basically they'll give you the hard sell on timeshare/holiday ownership/points club or whatever they call it now while you're there. If you're good at saying no you could get a cheap holiday! But read the thread above.0 -
ive checked here on mse and its all very negative ... don't touch with a barge pole.
thanks everyone.0 -
Avoid like the plague, the Internet is flooded with negative views about them.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I had a magnificent week at CLC California Suites, on the Costal Del Sol last summer. It was a promotional week for £99. The apartment was luxurious. Full kitchen, inc washing machine, dishwasher etc,The resort itself was great, everything you need and staff were extremely friendly.
Yes we had to do a 3 hour tour and they tried to sell us their holiday club package. It was a soft sell. No pressure. We didnt buy, nor did most folk , but maybe around 1 in 7 did (according to a staff member, off record)
Most people on here , who describe it as a scam etc have no idea of what Club La Costa is all about. Their accomodation is NOT typical package holiday standard, so it is ridiculous to compare it to that.
Nearest equivalent I can think of is maybe Marriott Vacation Club, and you aren't getting that for £50 a night either.
Most members I spoke to are happy enough with their membership.0 -

That's why they can afford to spend so much on subsidising holidays just to get a small minority to sign up. If anyone really did want a timeshare (or whatever the PC term is now), there are plenty of people desperate to sell, for a fraction of the price they'd want if you took one of these holidays and were daft enough to fall for the sales patter while there. That's why they won't let you go away and think about it, they want you to sign up while you're there.
Doesn't matter what the product is - if the saleman is only interested in you signing up now and doesn't want to let you go away and think about it - it won't be good value. There's a reason they don't want you to research, compare the alternatives, check the competition, think about it. Will it really not be there in two weeks time? If so why can't they wait two weeks for you to make your mind up?0 -
I dont disagree with any of that Zagfles.
Its not a scam though. Its a real, tangible product. Overpriced, possibly compared to the resale market, but then again what isn't?
The yearly member fees are reasonable for the quality of the accommodation.0 -
The promotion isn't a scam, you will get the holiday, but it comes with a presentation of their holiday product.
Please remember your consumer rights if you are tempted to sign up - do not pay a deposit on the day, or make a decision on the day. Most people find that the timeshare related products are not worth the money nowadays as you can rent weeks at most timeshare resorts for less than the annual fees ... that's without taking into consideration how much they will want from you initially to become a member.0 -
I bought 19 years club la costa in October 2013 I now need to get out if it can anyone help :A0
