Changing Forum Password

I got the message but changed my password by going into my profile via the normal process rather than using a link.0

Glad there was no link. I occasionally get legit emails from PayPal that carry links to the site which I regard as really bad practice as it makes people think links to a site in an email asking them to log in is not a thing to consider with suspicion. No link. Just a request to use the forum CP and change the password. And it was a PM from a green banner MSE account. All legit.

I got the message re changing my password.
Thought it was genuine enough...and followed the link.
Hope it's ok.

Just rechecked and there WAS actually a link in the PM. Not that I followed it though - I never follow links in PMs.0

I got the PM but I'm not changing mine as nobody else has access to my computer and I'd have to re write my post it note anyway.0 -
Just searched for this as I got a password change notice. The fact that they are targeting users to change their passwords means either the passwords are stored in plain text, they are not using a one way hash or they are using unsalted hashes which are subject to rainbow table attacks. Either one isn't good......
It may be time to delete my account0
