Halifax High Interest accounts

Thanks Mary. But will they require you to close your other current accounts?0
-
It's optional, you don't have to send back that part of the form. I've still got my Coventry First account open and working with a good few thousand in it. You don't have to close down your old account, simply let them transfer a couple of SOs, which I made up for £10 to a couple of my other accounts0

Thanks a lot Mary. Here we are halifax one application each for my wife and me.:T0
-
SOs only will do. That's what I did with Halifax Higher Interest and BOS Higher Interest. Got both with £100, and didn't have any DDs at all.
I thought about this, but Mary how did you manage to open both, for the offer?
Their T&C's state
"6. Payment applies to first account opened only, through either Halifax or Bank of Scotland, whether sole or joint. Joint account qualifies for one payment only."
Okay that could refer to actually through a physical branch/or website of either, but then we this clause also
"8. The offer is open to new current account customers only and not available to existing Halifax or Bank of Scotland current account holders. New customers opening a joint account with an existing sole account holder will not qualify for a payment."
Surely that means if you've got one (Halifax) then you can't have the other (BoS)?
(My BoS application.. They've lost my transfer forms, so have to start again, therefore on a 4 not a three month turn around, cos of the delay.. Letter in post to them me thinks!!)

Well I opened both more or less on the same day, maybe a couple of days apart, and at that stage "technically" I did not have an account with either of them, so I wasn't telling any lies!
You sometimes have to give things a go in life, sometimes you win, sometimes you don't, but at least you know you tried!0 -

Bums! I didn't even know both offers were running.....
My BoS opening has been chaos...... Old account all money going out.. New BoS money coming in..... Transfer forms lost, in their own internal post system...
Get this..... 6, yes that's right 6 people in the whole of their account switching dept!!!
There were four people inquiring about opening a Halifax account, in the branch when I was in on Tuesday, complaining about mine.... Expect a longgggggg wait.....0 -
they had 1000 people transfering a day
originally you could get both £100 offers, but BOS has now stopped and that clause has now been wrote in0 -
Just an update. I've checked my online halifax accounts today and found out that I wasn't approved with the high interest CA only the basic card cash account and I don't know why. My wife applied at the same time and she got it. I rang CS and I was told that it has to do with their credit scoring.
I haven't had any credit card and CA applications in the last 3-4 months. As far as I can recall the last one was a repeat deal with Virgin which they might do a credit search as I requested for an increase in limit.
Should I keep the account open or cancel it? Am I right in saying that I won't be able to benefit the £100 offer even if I put £1000 on this account monthly? Also I'm requesting a credit report of my file.
Any replies greatly appreciated.
cheers0 -
I would defo get hold of your credit file. I had someone that there was some incorrect info on their file, got it corrected and then it offered.
You can appeal for the current account with a supply of 3 month bank statements, and if your credit file looks clean a copy of that too
your right you won't get the £100 offer as the basic account does not offer the switching service
I was surpised when you said about an answer in a few days as usualy its instant - this suggests the underwriters looked at it before declining0 -
regularsaver1 I wasn't planning of getting my credit report that soon as I was about to get it mid July. I have just closed my Amex Platinum 2 weeks ago and that wouldn't show on my file yet. I would be very keen to see my credit report and hoping no surprises there.
The last application I made was January for my Stroud and Swindon card which was successful and I'm slowing down my stoozing activity hence no other application except the repeat deal with Virgin in March.
That's what I'm planning to do try to appeal so long as my report is clean but won't be able to produce a 3 mos statements as I've got a paperless A&L premier direct account at present.0
