Great phone. I updated from blackberry. No regrets at all.0

Yes, I did read Simon's writeup, but I never got the numeric keypad to come up automatically (as you might have expected) when the "Enter unlock code" was displayed, and only much finger-stabbing caused it to appear!
Seems at least two people have successfully upgraded an unlocked Moto G to KitKat! :T
Odd that, but at least you got it unlocked ok.

One potential issue - the Xperia U uses a full-sized SIM card, whereas the Moto G uses Micro SIM, so you can't simply swap SIM cards.
You can however buy SIM cutters that chop off the excess plastic - the chips are the same, the only difference is the surround.0 -
Had my 16GB one a few weeks now...upgraded from an S3 mini after a list of issues with it and I can honestly say it does everything far faster and better...and a recent update to kitkat the thing flys now!Not quite a newbie as you think

Am I right in thinking that most newly released Smart phones use Micro SIM cards (bar the fruity model which uses a Nano card)0 -

You can buy a plastic adapter on Amazon and elsewhere which is the size of a 'normal' SIM, into which you can fit a micro SIM. Works very well if you then put the SIM into a 'metal cage' on the phone, less well if the phone has a push-in, spring-loaded, socket.
If you're going the other way ('normal' to micro) you may be able to get the micro-sized SIM from your supplier.0 -
