laser eye surgery regression..

  • From what I've read, optimax has had many angry customers just as optical express has. That's exactly what I mean, I think there is such a lapse in the regulations of these companies that whilst there are many happy customers who are pleased with their laser eye surgery, there are many who have had a truly awful experience. If I'd known so much was just luck I don't think I'd have gone for it at all...
  • Oh, and they did warn me about the possibility of haloes and starring, although this was very very downplayed. Trouble is, I didn't anticipate my vision regressing to this state so quickly. In my mind, I was going to be able to see perfectly without glasses or contacts, so what was this apparently minor possibility of a teensy bit of starring in relation to that?!

OP you have my sympathies and others, let this be a lesson with regard to laser eye surgery. It isnt all simply glitz glamour and throwaway specs as it says in the brochures. There are some serious failures. Make sure your not one of them.

The halos do fade or go with time. Your brain tends to cancel them out. My best advice to you would be to seek/pay for a consultation with a specialist eye surgeon. Seek out the Royal eye hospital in Manchester or its equivalent and find a highly rated consultant.

Youve already made one error,,,dont make another...
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

  • As a balance I had laser eye surgery just over 5 years ago through optical express and I can't fault anything about the whole thing. I came away with as good as perfect vision as one could hope for. 5 years on it's not quite as good but they tell you at the time your eyesight will still naturally degrade. It's still good enough to not wear glasses at all.

Agreed there are good outcomes. I think the problem is that there is a tendancy to put profit before sound clinical judgement. For example, my reading of it is that such surgery should only be considered for low myopes and similar. Most would not consider it for a high myope of say -/8.00 but ill bet i could find a laser surgery that would say..oh yes,no problem..you will have perfect vision next week. It may be possible for the op to use contact lenses depending on the current state of the eye surface.
