Fibre speeds - BT and Sky

Sky seem to push their equivilent of BT infinity 1 and are a bit cheaper than BT Retail for that service, but are more expensive for the equivilent of Infinity 2 and don't seem to push that service..in the OP's case I would think Sky are trying to get a sale on the upto 40Mb service, perhaps they get a better wholesale deal from their supplier (BT) on that speed,
if the OP went for Infinity 2 and the speed was 'only' 42Mb, then they could call BT and ask to be put onto Infinity 1 as there predicted speed didn't happen, but chances are the OP would get in excess of the 63Mb quoted as most comments on forums like this one suggest the estimate is always on the low side
Yeh. Maybe thats the case. I guess to a certain extent they get less grief because they know you'll get the lower speed but its variable above that.
Like you said, estimate is 63Mbps. Sky were a bit quiet when I quoted that. I've gone for 1st one for now and see how it goes. I guess I can alway upgrade part way through the year?0 -
For 99% of the population 40Mb is more than enough. Save your tenner and go with the "slower" package.0
