Virgin media cable question

Morning all,
The house i'm buying currently has Virgin media for TV, calls & broadband. I was thinking of going with Virgin anyway, but the house does not have a TV ariel, so my question is, when i first move in, will i be able to watch my TV straight away, or will i have to wait until i have an account with Virgin (or another providor).
Thank you.

Thanks, i will do that, but as i have so many other things to buy when i move in, i was going to delay getting my full package with Virgin.
I just want to be able to plug my TV in and watch that for a while, but can i do that if they don't have an ariel?0 -
No - you need an aerial or the virgin enabled. Do you have or could you borrow a portable one - might do for a short while.0

But a portable TV still needs an aerial. You may or may not get a signal with a set-top aerialNo free lunch, and no free laptop

Alternatively rather than spending on a portable ariel that may or may not work, why not use your laptop to watch via the catch-up services e.g. bbc iplayer, itvplayer, 4onDemand, demand5 and also use http://www.filmon.com/tv to watch live free broadcast channels
Its possibly not ideal long-term but will keep you going until you get VM set up0 -

How is the OP going to watch catch-up services on a laptop if they dont have broadband connected when they move in?

And where's the face-palm smilie when you need it! Lord knows what I was thinking (or not as appears to be the case). Not had any coffee today, maybe that's the issue.
But if its anything like my street, there are at least 4 unsecured wireless networks!0
