Old style thread Thursday 9 th January

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning all
Another poor nights sleep , so thought I would get up and torment the cat
MILs 89 th birthday today , we are taking her out for afternoon tea , i think she will love it . It's at a lovely hotel with beautiful surroundings, hopefully the weather will behave itself .
I need to get some material to make an ipad cover for dd2 ,I made one for mine and she wants one, she doesn't want 'old lady material' though lol
I need to go through the freezer and see what's in there , I'll do a meal plan when I've sorted it and try and use up the long forgotten stuff at the back
Have a good day everyone xx

Good morning!
So popping into work on my day off yesterday took a bit longer than expected. 10 hours! Although I did leave for two hours to take DS1 to the doctors.
DS1 has shingles. Very unusual in a teenager. I didn't think it was shingles because of his age and it wasn't painful. Apparently it isn't painful in younger people. He's also got problems with he's knees and needs physio for those.
He's off school until next week, much to the chagrin of DS2.
In work again today but hopefully an early finish! Roast pork for tea tonight. My new crochet book arrived today. I'm starting a wreath but don't have the right colour yarns so I need to buy some at the weekend.
Hope you all have a good day.0 -
Morning All
Dark out but I don't think it's raining - yet! Thought it was a bit lighter yesterday morning, hope it is again today.
Nothing much happening here apart from work, cleaning and cooking, I have to admit that I am enjoying cooking 'normal' dinners again after the festive period, seemed to only eat huge roast dinners or carp! Had chorizo risotto last night which was super tasty.
Not sure what's on the menu this evening, have my shift at the hospice so will be in after 6, DD working till 7.
Take care and have a good day, hugs to all in need - Julie, how are you doing? XX0 -
Morning all,
I'm another one not sleeping well,my leg aches terribly. Never mind I'm hoping to be home today. My obs were good this morning no temperature and my blood pressure is behaving. I've just got to do the stairs and they said I can leave after lunch. I'm managing ok on the crutches. I really didn't know how painful this was going to be. Just glad it's done. My right leg has been fine, the cartlidge is fixed and my consultant said it was nowhere near as bad as the left one, so really hoping it doesn't need replacing for a very long time.
I can't wait to get outside. And some fresh air, the atmosphere is very stuffy here.
Dh is coming for me later. He's been a trooper and I know he's hated every minute of me being away, we hate being apart, he says the house feels strange without me:D
Hopefully everything is reasonably tidy and even if it's not I can't do much about it lol. Have a good day xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Getting light, has been raining again but stopped at the moment, blustery too.
DH up and gone to work early.
Dinner last night was lovely lamb casserole, mash, LO cauli/broc cheese, LO yorkshires, carrots and spring cabbage, birthday cake for dessert for those that wanted some. Tonight will be a quick and easy dinner as have a busy day today getting ready to go away tomorrow.
Work yesterday wasn't as busy as we thought it would be, but I finished at lunchtime, and am now on a weeks leave so don't go back until a week Monday - lovely - have loads on the list to do whilst I'm off though!!
Keep safe and well x

Sistercas - Happy birthday to your MIL, hope she has a lovely day.
The alarm went off at 5 instead of 7 this morning, think ds had been messing with it, it would'nt be so bad but we had a really late night last night.....myself and dh got up as there is no way I'd got back to sleep, so I'm going to be exhausted later today, luckily dh is working from home today so he can go at his own pace and I'm planning on staying in too just pottering round the house.
Hope you all have a good day...((hugs)) to those that need them xG.C July £21.09/£1000 -
Morning all,
Dry here at the mo. DH and DS2 about to go out the door.
Tenyearstogo - My DD had shingles when she was about 13 across her back. It was very painful for her and at the time I had no idea children could get it and so ignored it for a couple of days. Poor kid, I feel guilty to this day
Julie - Glad you may be home today.
Not sure what to do today, might try and see my dad. I have vouchers for Dobbies free coffee so might see if he would like to meet there.
I made soup on Tuesday night while I was cooking dinner. I thought I'd try and be very MS and make it out of the veg peelings. It actually tasted very nice
Righty ho, best get on, have a good day.0 -
Morning all,
Yesterday was a very strange day: DH came home from his procedure early as they could not find anything bad enough to need fixing.
The tablets etc are doing their job.
He is no more at risk of a heart attack than anybody else with a similar health profile (my words btw).
He does have an irregular heart beat, but after a double bypass that is not unusual.
:j:j:j
BUT ... it's going to take a while to sort out the feelings about the last few months. It's almost a year since he got the all clear from cancer and we've been unable to move on. Things can be different now.
But I shall still have to iron today
Glad you are feeling better Julie, good luck with the stairs!
Have a good day all xI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Good morning,
Happy birthday to your mil, sistercas.
Tenyearstogo, sorry to hear your son has shingles. Wishing him a speedy recovery.
Julie, hope the pain recedes greatly as each day passes, it will be nice for you to be home.
Luxor, pleased to read about your hubby.
Popping on quickly as should be getting ready as its my day to visit mum and dad.
Apart from this, i have no plans.
Hope you all have a nice day.
