Aoife is my wee baby girl and she inspires me to be debt free, for her, I want to enjoy my children (she has siblings too) and not worry about money! I want to teach my children that borrowed money is just borrowed temporary joy and that worry always rears it's ugly head when that borrowed fun has run out! This year I will be debt free! Newly single ( and I plan to stay that way) I will rise out of the ashes of the burnt out me in 2013 and be born into the fist day of the rest of my happy, family life!
Happy new year all. Xx

Well done for knowing exactly what you need and want. Wish I'd had as much clarity when mine were young. I've been on your other thread and see that the advice is coming in - those people are great. My suggestion would be a spends diary particularly while you try to get a handle on your new life. Best of luck, I'll be watching.Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. Last night we played games and danced around to some music- we had a blast and it cost nothing but a little electricity.
i have realised something amazing- i am so in love with my kids!!! they are complete blessings and bring me such joy and hope and happiness!!!:)
I thought we needed all this stuff- needed the debt (because good parents give their kids everything) and now i see it for what it really is materilistic crap!
today i went to the library and borrowed all the books i need for my next assignment- usually i buy them but at £30 each ild rather not- I will pass my degre, get a good job (and hopefully learn to type as im reallyt bad at it) and be debt free by this time next year!!!:pGetting debt free and moving on from separation one day at a time.:p:o

Having a tough weekend, ex is having the kids at my house today so I can study but actually I've had a terrible migraine ( I couldn't see properly as my sight went all fuzzy and my head was pounding), all I could do was sleep so he took the kids out and I slept this afternoon, I think it was brought on by a combination of tiredness and worry!
I also deleted my facebook this weekend, I am sick of the whole thing, I love talking online but actually facebook has become a platform for many things that I don't like and I tired of putting on this happy happy happy persona to please on there, at least on here and the parenting forum that I am subscribed to I can just be me. I can say that life is crappy and not working and no one knows me in RL.
On Friday I say a dyslexia test at uni, after failing a reasoning test I took it to see and actually I scored as being dyslexic, I always knew that I am terrible with spelling and structure and this I guess explains why!? I should be entitled to some help now at uni and hopefully get some tools to help with note taking etc in class as I really struggle with this!
Thanks everyone, hope u all had a good Saturday.

Sorry to hear you're having a difficult weekend - good that you managed to catch up on some sleep & sure the headache prob was down to stress etc - hope it's better now.
I'm not a huge fan of FB and really only keep my account as several of my friends live abroad and it's the easiest way to keep in contact with them - I *try* to go in once a week to see what's happening!
Don't want to say good news about the Dyslexia diagnosis BUT at least it explains a few things for you and you should def be able to get some help with your Uni stuff which should make things a huge amount easier

Grrrrrr, I still have almost 2 thirds of my essay to get on with, the kids have been restless the last 2 nights and I've been breastfeeding the baby since 7 am!! ( major teething!) I am actually hating life right now! My only joy is knowing that I'm doing this for those wee monkey's that have kept me up! Actually, once I had gotten the boys back to sleep last night I was looking at their little faces like sleeping angels and all I think was ' I love you so much that I actually don't care that you've kept me up, you are such a gift and while I am completely shattered, this time is soooo precious and doesn't really last that long'. I have realised that perhaps the biggest debt in my life is my kids, after all they are not truly mine but are on loan to me until they are grown up and make their own decisions. I love them so much!

You're not hating life, you're just finding it a struggle. You're currently dealing with and helping your children deal with a major change while still keeping focused on debt management, the future, etc. you're also very aware of the things that really matter so give yourself the world's biggest pat on the back. I feel better already, my ex took all the kids out this morning except the baby and I felt soooo rough that I slept for an hour, just lay in bed feeding baby and dropped off, I must have needed it, I am permanently shattered at the moment, baby girl fell asleep and I had a long hot soak in the tub. It was just what I needed, I the caked my body in moisturiser that I got for Christmas and I feel 100% better already, then used the bath water to soak my nappies that were in the bucket and water the plants and wash the floors and flush the loo! Kids just hot back so we have had lunch, I just feeding baby again as I type and my mum is visiting this avo so I can do a couple of hours work in the next room.
I'll get there, just gotta keep on swimming, keep on swimming!! ( I love dory):pGetting debt free and moving on from separation one day at a time.:p:o
