Forum redesign - PM

Had a PM to change my password to something more secure due to forum redesign. How did anyone know my password anyway?

Anybody else had the same?:)

Plenty of threads over on the Feedback board discussing this.

MSE Ian asks that people don't admit that they've received the PM, as this reveals that they had an insecure password. *shrug*

Anyone else get a pm asking to change their MSE password? (multipage.gif12)

Dodgy looking PM dated 1970 regarding password changes.

Is this private message from MSE? (multipage.gif12)

theres people saying they have secure passwords, like mixtures of upper & lower case with symbols and numbers and they still got this private message. doesnt make sense to me. im wondering how bad it would be if someone got my password. how would that benefit them?

I think it was a mistake to move the thread about it and to close it. Or at least it would've helped to replace it with something more general about the pm. Seems that a number of us felt uneasy about this. Once it came up for discussion it would've been helpful to have something posted in applicable discussion boards to reassure peeps that it's legit.
