She'd probably like that. My mum's not antisocial, she just doesn't know what to do, she's nearly 70 now.

My mother is anti-social. She refused to go to her sisters funeral, as another sister was asked to go in the car (this sister and the one who died were very close).

I am a woman... so here is my attempt at instructions

    Open box... look puzzled.
sweep floor, mop floor, scrub floor.... make sure it dries fully

look puzzled, make a cuppa look puzzled...

Figure out which way you want the boards running (normally the shortest width to make it look wider)

Start laying the boards in the middle, make sure clicked/glued (subject to type of boards) we nailed ours as it was wood. work way out and cut the bits at the edge to fit!

Alternatively say to a capable man.. I will make it worth you whilst if you lay this floor for me... then make him a cup of tea and a burger for his troubles xxx
not bad. its best to lay them the opposite way to floor boards if you have them underneath. always leave a slight gap around the edges to allow for expansion. I always start from a corner (they are not tiles). don't put joints together lay them like bricks. with joints at least 4'' apart. best tool to cut them with is a jig saw, but as its a small area she would get away with a hacksaw.
the recommended gap around the edge is 12mm, but I do 4-6mm on small areas and fill with a mastic. looks better that edging and cheaper.

    Mimi I reply soon
  • On a similar theme of the directness of little children when talking about death:
"Granddad, who'll go and get the fish and chips when you've gone to Heaven?"

    A few more...

At lunch, my small grandson asked casually: ‘Granddad, can I have this house when you pop your clogs?’

Overheard, my small grandchild and her little friend in deep conversation:
‘Well, my daddy says my granny’s well past her sell-by date.’

I explained to my grandson, aged five, who had asked where my dog was, that Rusty was very old and tired and had had a long and happy life and that the vet had ‘put him to sleep.’
‘When will you be going to the vet then, grandma?’ he asked.

'When you're dead, Grandpa, can I have your watch?'

Felicity, aged three, asked me why she hadn’t got a granddad. I explained to her that he had gone to heaven.
‘I suppose you’ll be next’, said Felicity in a matter-of-fact little voice.
‘There is great-grandma’, I reminded her.
‘Yes, but she doesn’t go anywhere by herself’, replied the child.

    - and with that I'll wish all you glitch monkeys goodnight:)
