Thank you folks for all your help with his presents. I got him a camera, am giving him some cash and I've hand written a little notebook of money saving tips so that when he retires later in the year, he can do it comfortably

No person working full time should have to be reliant on benefits to meet their own needs, their employers should pay more than the living wage and the government should enforce this! Simples!!
As I pointed out during the Bic offer (£10 for Bic out of ink, and about an hour to scribble all the ink out), a Bic 'earns' about £10 an hour, which is getting on for twice the current minimum wage.:('It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.'

when you get 2 of the nakd bars at tesco you get 50p off the rest of your shopping - but for the two coupons to be accepted without any assistance from s/a you need to spend £3
I ate my free Nakd bar yesterday (thanks OP ... was it you, tom?) and .... bleurgh! ... I think I paid too much - I wouldn't scratch me bum with them:) My stomach was saying to me, "What have I ever done to you, that you treat me like this?".'It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.'

Good findoff to bed now, night all x
Night xWhich could lead to an employer with 5 employees saying that due to increase they can only afford 3/4 and then you have an increase in unemployment and people on job seekers.
Not quite as simple as you think.
That is the government view and for some small companies this would be true, but for the majority it would not.. the government argues for a free economy and they supplements large companies with tax cuts for the company and substituting the wages... whilst the owners become richer.100 -
