A couple of warming winter recipes from the Penguin Books email newsletter, from a new book 'One Pot Wonders' by Lindsey Bareham. Fuss-free (and less washing up!), and can be done in the slow cooker too.

Hi please does anyone know if the m&s deal still works in store with the 2 coupons As I have some to use?0

That's what I thought, so DWP can go back on your bank and savings record for years and years???
I am not sure what the time scale is with this situation, but with elderly it is 7 years (or so I have been informed). If they choose to look at their funding, they appear to scrutinise everything100 -

The info they are giving out is a little sketchy, there are just so many scenarios running around.

Hello
I have been lurking since before Christmas. I don't have many pennies but when I saw this last night I thought I would test it with my bespoke voucher.
Now I can come out of lurking and join in as I have something valid to share:j
I have only done the 2 radox as the dove multi has disappeared off of msl. Results will be in about 2pm but as I'm meant to be doing uni work I will post as soon as I can.RISEABOVEHATE

What has happened is that this persons parent has died and all the final bills have now been paid and what is left is going to be split between my friend and her siblings, equal shares.
I don't know how much it is but its enough for them to loose their benefits which I assume is most of their income so I imagine that if they have to allocate money each month to pay the normal bills it will soon disappear and they will be below the level for benefits again before too long.
So has anyone been in this situation and how did it pan out?
An absolute minefield - but she does have to notify the DWP or they can ask her to pay back certain benefits. I do think it's really unfair that she will be penalised for receiving money from her parent's death but on the other side of the coin, she is being paid for by the state. (I'm not judging in any way, my dad is on disability so he's in exactly the same boat.)
The answer is i dont have a clueTiger

Someone has asked me to give them some advice - I don't know why, my sum of knowledge is diminishing and most of my info comes from the MSE font of knowledge
Its not something I know anything about and the person says no one seems able to help them so maybe somebody here has some words of wisdom.

My friend and her husband are on long term invalidity benefit or incapacity benefit - not sure exactly what is called now (and its a not very close friend so I don't like to ask nosey questions) All I know for sure is that some of the benefits they are on are means tested. I don't know how much the inheritance is but it will mean that she will loose the means tested benefits - I am not even sure what these are but I assume its the rent, house rates, free prescriptions - don't know about the mobility car??
I know she has been told that she has to be careful what she spends the money on as the DWP take a very dim view of wanton spending - she has been told that she cant pay off the credit card bill as its in her partners name and not hers.

Hi mhoc
I don't know much either, do know you can have about £20k in savings before it affects means tested benefits. DLA (care & Mobility car) won't change that's safe
They may be able to hand back mobility car & buy a car using some of the inheritance. The DWP would class car as necessity, then they would get the mobility part of DLA paid to them each month instead about £235 (that doesn't affect benefits)Womble Total 2014 - £31.05
APG Total for 2014 £297.12
PP Total for 2014 £89.94
