Mid-Contract haggle?

I took out a 12-month contract with Sky following an 'MSE Blagged' offer whereby you go the whole package half-price for the first 6 months.
Well, the first 6 months are up and in February I'll be paying the normal rate thereafter.
What d'ya reckon the odds of negotiating this down again are? Too cheeky? Anyone had any success?
Don't post here too often so sorry if it's the wrong place...

Why would they want to haggle at this point? When you contract is up and you threaten to leave, possibly.

No chance at all.
You have to pay the remainder of your legally binding contract at the full price.

You mean when the minimum term has expired - there is no such thing as a fixed term contract with Sky (or Virgin) you are on a rolling 31 day contract on Sky with a minimum term - it does NOT expire after 12 months.

Correct, it's only the minimum term which expires.

More to the point, why would they haggle when they have absolutely no need to? The OP cannot cancel during the minimum term and so has no leverage!

They won't let you 'haggle' - you're in a legally binding contract.

What you can do though is cancel some of the channels. E.g. if you don't really watch sports, ask for those to be removed. You are able to do that in the 12 month contract (but you do have to give a months notice). What you can't do is cancel altogether whilst in that 12 month contract.

I have just called Sky regarding a similar situation...my half price line rental now ended but apparently because I upgraded to Ent Extra Plus last June, I am still in contract until May of this year. This 'upgrade' was actually as a result of Sky changing their packages so that there was a new Ent Extra Plus which had the same as Ent Extra which we were already on, but it had HD channels and access to the full range of On Demand features inc box sets. The thing is the 'full access' was already available to us as EE subscribers but the new repackaging meant they were taking away the full access to OD from EE to only be available to EEPlus subscribers for the cost of £5 extra per month. So basically I had to pay £5 extra pm for something I already had...the only difference was I had HD but I wasn't bothered about that as already had HD channels of the free to air channels.

Anyway, he informed me that there was nothing at all they could do as they had no current offers on and even when e.g. a cuctomer out of contract phones up and says i'm cancelling unless you offer a good discount, there's nothing they can do if they have no current offers on.

I'm not sure this is correct. So basically I was told I cannot do anything about changing the price I pay for my Sky subscription (TV, broadband, Talk & line rental) until I'm out of contract in May and even then they may not be able to do anything.

Although Sky wont do anything about the subscription cost there might be something you can do. I believe the movies and sport are not subject to minimum terms (at least they aren't now). If you have these you can give 30 days notice to cancel them. If you do that you may get offered them at 50%. A friend of mine recently tried to 'downgrade' and was offered movies and sport for 50% for 6 months so its always worth trying.
