I:mad: put up to date meter readings online through their website on 28th November 2013 and again on 9th December 2013, plus I telephoned these meter readings on 9th December 2013, I spoke to Helena who said that the meter readings were not on our account. When I checked my emails I had recieved one thanking me for my meter readings on 9th December 2013. Helena said that she would ring me back on Friday 13th December 2013 between 10 and 11am. No call back. So I rung again and spoke to Colin at 14:00 on 13th December 2013, who informed me that no meter readings were on our account still, despite the fact that they were read by a gentlemen who came into our house on 12th December from Scottishpower, Colin said that he could not issue the refund because there was no up to date meter readings on our account!!!!! and nobody had been out to read our meters!!! Colin also said that it was not on our account for a call back on the 13th December 2013. I had to give Colin meter readings again!! that was the fourth time I had given them. Helena rung back at 16:00 she said that she had the wrong time for call back on our account,( Colin had said no call back was due to us!!!) she asked again for meter readings!! Helena said that our account and meter readings would have to go to the back office which takes 5 days and we should have the refund by friday 20th December 2013. Helena said that she would ring back on Monday 23rd December 2013 between 10 and 12, she said her hours were 10 till 7. No call back. Because of all this agro trying to get our refund back we have cancelled our direct debit for January 2014 as we are also in the process now after all this of switching our supplier through the cheap energy club on here.
I have a copy of the email sent to me thanking me for my up to date meter readings which I received on the 9th December 2013. So why was I told by Colin and Helena that no meter readings had been received and also after they were read by Scottishpower on the 12th December??
rung again on 2nd jan, spoke to conner who yet again took meter readings!! he said that we should receive a cheque in next 14 days. I have also emailed david at scottishpower who deals with complaints on here but received no reply!! we asked for our refund last December and still waiting for our refund!!! is it true that they also owe us late refund money as well??

I've had recent refund and DD amount issues with Scottish Power. I found it easier dealing with them through email but it took some time, and a lot of incorrect details on their part, to get to the original solution I'd requested.
I did receive my refund on 20th December after 3 weeks, and as I have an online account set up I kept updating my meter readings and then emailing them to let them know.
Sadly, they've still not corrected my DD amount each month yet. It seems that there's not much communication that goes on in that place as each explanation I was given didn't make any logical sense and was totally different to the explanation I'd received just a few days prior.
Good luck with sorting it all out.0 -
a lot of folk on here having problems getting refund back, really pleased you got yours back, like a lady said its our money not theirs0

just been on our scottishpower account online our credit has dropped since this afternoon by £347.49, no explanation as to why, but we are still in credit by £84.46, could it be a cheque is on its way?? why have they held onto the £84.46?? :mad:0

Are you due a bill fed up hippie? Ours shows a large credit then drops when I enter meter readings or they estimate my usage.
Do you know how much the credit has to be to get a refund? Ours is £120 credit after entering readings.0 -

hi we had an actual bill today with £431.95 in credit, just been on our account online and its dropped to £84.46!!!! since I checked it this afternoon, they don't say why, we are praying a cheque is on the way at last but why have they kept back the £84.46?? going to try and ring them again in morning.0 -
Hello again,
When I requested my refund I kept around £75 in credit with them as a buffer to see me through winter. I requested this, but it may actually be their standard practice to do their best to ensure that you never owe them money. DD's are set up to cover the year rather than each month so summer tends to build up some credit which you use during the winter months so that may be the reason they've held some back now it's cold.
I wasn't told my cheque was on the way, I just saw that the money I was in credit had reduced and then about 5 days later my cheque arrived.
From my experience I never actually got any sense out of them, but hopefully you will once you get to speak to them.0 -
Why can't they repay credit back to the account they take the DD from? The issuing of a cheque just seems like another stalling ploy so they can hold on to our money for as long as possible.0

I moved from Scottish Power at the end of October and
cancelled my direct debit at the same time.
I received my refund last week and this was credited
directly to my bank account.0 -
Just a warning about SP.
I`ve finally got my refund yesterday after a lot of phone calls and emails.
They insisted it could only be paid by cheque but in the end (for some reason) paid it direct into my bank account.
When I checked my bank account today I noticed they had sneakily set up a new DD.
I had cancelled the old one about a month ago to prevent them taking any more money.
So check your DD because even when you think you`ve got away from them, they`re still after your dough.0 -
Thanks for everyone that has replied to my rant about Scottishpower, after checking my account with them online yesterday. our credit had dropped by £347.49, but still in credit by £84.46, we are hoping that a chq is on route or been transferred back to my hubbies account. Still talking to Ombudsman about their very poor customer service etc and want to know why they held on to our credit for so long after requesting it back last November 20130
