What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Being more mindful of your consumption will help, Dizzy, as would going to bed earlier if you want to avoid temptation! In my early sober days I was in bed by 8.00pm when OH went out, 9.00pm when he was in, just to stop myself from falling back to old habits.

It sounds as though your mother feels a bit more stable and settled, Satchmo, if she was bright and chatty at the crack of o'sparrow fart, which I hope is some comfort. (((Hugs))) anyway. I had nine calls and texts one Mothering Sunday when I couldn't be with my mother, although I had visited her the previous weekend (250 miles away) and alerted my brothers to the fact I couldn't be with her on the day itself - barstewards didn't do anything.

    8/31 please, Shaggy.

Thanks for the support Maman - sorry to report temptation got the better of me and a bottle opened and mostly consumed, but feel OK this morning so far, so I'm hoping I've got it out of my system (the temptation, that is). I'm annoyed as I got to 10pm on tea before I cracked. I should've gone to bed.

Oh dear! But I do have sympathy because for some reason while (after years of being on here) I can cope fine on a weeknight, weekends are different. Unless I'm driving somewhere I never try to have an AF day at weekends.

I had too much last night too and fuzzy head is only now clearing. Will try to find the stop button earlier tonight or perhaps start later.

Oh, HB, I'm getting off lightly then! Sorry your siblings were sucky
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

    Well done everyone!
    Creeping in to report 1/13.

Mainly because of having to drive with a trailer!

Trailers as the new aid to sobriety?!

As sucky as could be, Satchmo. Even now, nearly a decade later I can't understand how they could have been so heartless. It went on for three years, and not once did they visit her on Christmas Day, her birthday or Mothering Sunday. Selfish $h!t$. After she died I booted them out of my life and, sad to say, have never missed them.

    9/31 please, Shaggy.
