2/14 AF days so far. Only because have been working so late and driving late, really needed a drink both nights actually!
Maybe I should just give up fighting for some sort of work/life balance and just resign myself to a life of working round the clock but keeping sober? Just considered this and decided NO!0 -
Hi everyone!
I'm really in need of all the support and motivation you guys give again. Things are getting out of control and I desperately need to reign things in before it's too late (if it isn't already - I'm awaiting test results )
Shaggy, could I join the monthly challenge please - target 8 days?
BTW - it's nice to see so many familiar names still here :A
Fingers crossed...Smoke-free since Jan 2012 :j Now its just the drink, and the weight, and life in general0 -
Afternoon all, back from sojourns and ready to face November, with a target of 15 please, and today will be 1/15.0

Hi all
3/30 for me please. Lets hope I can make it through the weekend. This is the worst time for me.Do I really need it? Probably not.:A0 -
Well yesterday was a planned drink as we went out with friends but only 1 bottle between the three of us who drank wine and no other drinks. Also today has been AFD so that makes 2/14 so far. Struggled a bit tonight; horrendous drive home, took 2 hours for 53 miles and just had difficult call with someone so would like to throw several large glassesDown my throat. And I'm so tired although know from reading this thread that's not unusual. Forgive grumpiness, think I will copy Honey Bear and go to bed with my book. At least I can't fall out with a kindle.
Hope everyone else is having a good night 0 -
Well done for not giving in Maggiem, you should feel proud of that fantastic achievement. Its easy to have a "sod it" moment in times like those.
MarkMan welcome back, although sorry to hear of the circumstances leading to it. Hope the tests aren't as bad as you fear. Please try and stay here however hard it gets. I've been a regular again since April and its really helped me cut back and gain some control again. When I leave I stop feeling accountable.
Speaking of which we are still missing ManPants, I sincerely hope he is ok.
2/18 for me please Shaggy.Live for the moment and plan for the future0 -
3/28 to yesterday.
My motivation is saving money. It seems to be working!
Thanks!

Whatever works is the right motivation, BornToBeFree, and congratulations on the seven in a row.
MaggieM there will always be a reason to convince ourselves we deservve/need/are allowed a drink. If we can resist it by going to bed, or any other way - job done. If you're exhausted one of the reasons will be that you're probably working very hard, and another is that you're very unused to lowering your sugar consumption so drastically. We so easily forget to make allowances for that, but fortunately for me I love love love chocolate and ginger Twinks hobnobs, so for the past two and a half years I've been happy to boost my sugar levels so that I could stay off the booze and still function. Worry about your weight when drinking is under control - the weight issue is far, far less damaging and is relatively easy to sort out in comparison to any issue with alcohol.
I genuinely thought I could never kick my sugar addiction and for two and a half years I haven't been able to, but suddenly this week I'm sugar-free, now on Day 5. Predictably I've lost some of the extra weight I've been carting around for a while, about 100g a day seems to be my rate, so I'm going to carry on for as long as I can to shift these extra pounds. I might call it NO-vember and see how long I can do it - so far so good.
Welcome back, MarkMan. I hope the test results aren't as worrying as you fear, but that it's been enough of a jolt to help you to rein in the drinking. We seem to need to be shocked into doing something about it, so you aren't alone.
4/30 please, Shaggy.Better is good enough.0 -
Congrats HB for your sugar free efforts that is amazing!. Well done you.
I'm AF tonight as driving. So 3/18 for me please. Hoping to get a block of days in to make a dent in the number for this month.Live for the moment and plan for the future0
