This is the reply I got after I complained to customer services online
Thank you for contacting us.
It is our aim to deliver an exemplary service at all times to all of our Customers. Having fully investigated this matter I am satisfied that this aim was properly maintained by my colleagues at store under very difficult circumstances.
Every day thousands of people spend a great deal of time and money shopping in our stores. We endeavour to reward such loyalty by every week offering them extra value through our special offers.
The Company is clear on its Policy regarding bulk buying on items which are being offered for sale on Special Offer. We reserve the right to limit the number of items on special offer that can be purchased in one transaction or by any individual. This policy is designed to ensure that our regular customers have a chance to take advantage of the fantastic deals we offer by preventing other traders from buying our products in bulk. Please see individual terms and conditions for details of particular restrictions.
Thank you for taking the time and trouble to write to us and I am hopeful we may continue to serve you in our store where you are assured of our best attention at all times.
Kind regards,
Customer Services Department

What a shame 10 packs hardly seems excessive, especially on such a comparatively cheap item.
On cheap items, they probably do not make that much money when at full price.
Also as they long life items, they want you to repeat the purchase when the offer ends as you like the product. On kits (must last a good 6 months +?). some people would buy a year stock. Thus they will not get the repeat purchase.
The over all goal is to entice more people into store with offers etc. So to entice as many people in they have to stop e.g. local corner shops buying the whole stock.
If a store promotes then when you do your shop and there is nothing left, you would soon ignore there promotions.
Though while Morrison do 10. Lidl do only 6 on there 1/2 price weekend sales. So they could do less. On that offer I see lots of people just walk up to the deal and put 6 items in there trolley. SO I guess if they upped the offer people would buy more.0 -
I would like to know why Morrison's in Gibraltar is telling its customers0

Not true. They only do the "maximum of 6" on some items ( usually the meat offer ) . They are the ones marked with a small triangle next to the price on their leaflets ( and then states what this triangle means in the small print at the bottom of the page ). For example , the weekend offers for the weekend of 18/19th , limit will only apply to the bacon. I will regularly go through the checkout with a dozen or so of some of their offers with no problems0 -
Funny how the world works. I've never had a problem buying reduced stuff in bulk for a good deal (cheap meat/ 10p veg). I guess they care about long life products more0

Before Morrisons put a limit on how many 'special buys' you could purchase in one go, I saw people piling trollies up with them. These people were obviously going to sell them in their own local little shops as no one could eat/drink all of the things they bought before the sell by dates had past.
This is why morrisons started to limit the goods....as per usual the 'few' ruined it for everyone else.0 -
