No new Home Hub with new BT internet contract!

Has anyone taken out a new contract recently for Unlimited Internet with BT? My old contract expired in Nov 13, I agreed to a new one on 18th Dec & expected a new Home Hub 4 as per their advert on their website. I told the customer service advisor who was dealing with my new contract that there was an issue with the hub & he said to phone their technical dept & they would investigate. The tech dept. have refused to replace my Home Hub 2 as there is no fault! Can anyone help, surely it's new contract new Hub as per advertised??

Most ISPs only issue new kit to new customers unless the old equipment is faulty. Even then there is often only a limited period guarantee unless the service will only work with their equipment (eg VM cable).

Often reps on the phone will verbally promise just about anything to seal a deal but it somehow the promise doesn't get recorded in the order and doesn't turn up.

You could make a fault with it.
Would have to be something hardware related though.

There's very little that the newer HH will do that the HH2 won't.
If you really want a newer one, there are hundreds on ebay from a fiver upwards.

THis. Ebay is the way forward. I did this on my old Sky Broadband, they wouldn't give me an N router as my old G router was fine. So I bought one from Ebay for less than a tenner.
