OS Daily Thread Wednesday 8th January

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

• Good morning everyone :)

Still not sleeping well and it's starting to get me down. DH is out training tonight and I will be in bed early with a book and hopefully get a decent night's sleep.

New job is bringing lots of challenges but I always say I love a challenge, so I need to face them and overcome them. I WILL DO IT!

Left over salmon and pasta for dinner, bean salads for lunches. Low carb/paleo is another thing I must do, I really do need to get back to it and saying we have lots of left over food is just not a good excuse.

Better get going but will try and pop back later to catch up on news.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super day :)

• Morning :)

I had a hard day yesterday, DD2 has been fussing all day and only cuddles would settle her, so getting anything done was hard, especially since she started fussing from 4am! Add to that DD1 is missing daddy being home and being clingy too...

Oh well, new day today! Only 1 loaf to make, 2 to slice, quick tidy of the house... I aiming to be ready by 9am and playing with the girls (or cuddling) and just focusing on them. I have a Drs appt this afternoon. Dinner is Sausages, croquettes and beans (easy food :D)

Good luck to everyone today x

• Good morning TTFTM and all that follow.
Another day in paradise (yeah right).
Very disturbed night last night so feel rough this morning.
Already on my walk round the grounds i have found 2 huge concrete posts knocked over so that will be my first job of the day when it gets light enough to see what im doing. (the joys of being a site manager).
Spent an hour yesterday clipping my little dogs hair from around their feet (slipper feet i believe its called) and was shocked to see just how much thier nails had grown. So they are both on a regular clip now until the nails are back to how they should be.
Dinner tonight is bacon and liver with mash if i can find the recipe my mum used to use.
Didnt get to town yesterday to have my nails done as there was no way i was going out in that rain so may try and pop into there later.
DD was in a stroppy mood yesterday due to first day back at school and having to get up early . Lets hope the mood improves today.
Hope everyone is staying dry and safe in this horrible weather.
Hugs to all xx
Bright Blessings xx

Good Morning All

Loads of people seem to be having trouble sleeping - hope you all get caught up soon.

Another wet day here, DS is back to school which is always a challenge on the first day as he hates it so much. OH at home as still no work - hope to be back to normal next week.

Plans today - spend the morning in the office - got a massive filing job done yesterday and decluttered loads. Must must not let it build up like this again - will take me 30 mins each week to keep on top of so no excuses.

Last of the leftover lamb will be turned into curry tonight. Bought a Morphy Richards Intellichef before Xmas when my halogen oven died and I am beginning to love it. Its great for slow cooking as well and you can brown meat before turning it down to slow cook so will use that again today.

Gotta go and wake DS up - wish me lucj.
Have a great day all.x
• Morning

Off to work in a while today. Technically it's my day off but I have lots of admin to catch up on and I owe a few hours because I finished early over the Christmas period.

Ds1 is unwell. He's been sick with headaches for the past few days, he's now got a rash on his back so I need to make him an appointment at the doctors later. He should go back to school today but he'll have to miss out. He's in year 11 and only ever had about 5 days off school. Ds2 went back to school yesterday but is moaning that his brother isn't going back!

Not sure what's for tea tonight. Was meant to be pork but I forgot to take it out the freezer.
• Good morning all.

Good luck waking your ds Essex girl! I've got to wake all 3 of mine at 7.

Husband has gone back to work today. He is still using the eye drops but his eye just looks a bit pink now & not red. Got up ear
Y to help move the chair bed back into the conservatory & to put his eye drops in.

I'm showered, the cat is fed & the litter tray is cleaned.

I'm not sleeping well lately. Wondering if to have an hour snooze later when the kids are in school, or if that would be very lazy.

Dinner tonight is fish & chips from the freezer. Nice & easy.

Need to catch up on the washing/ironing today & clean the fish tank.

Lonewhitewolf, my mother used to force me to eat liver. She stopped once she found is thrown it into the (old fashioned) spinner!

Julie, hope you have a lovely day with your girls x

TTFTM, I'm also not sleeping. Not good is it x

Morning everyone

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes, I had a good day except I was working - but my colleagues bought me a lovely gift and I think they enjoyed the cakes/biscuits I took in.

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Getting light, damp underfoot but not raining or too windy at the moment.

DH up and gone to work early.

Mum and dad arrived last night with a birthday card and prezzie just as we were finishing dinner, whilst they were here sis rang and said she was coming round too, also had telephone call from my bro and my younger sis - so spoke to everyone! Had some lovely gifts too, a new top, perfume, money, smellies, wine - people know me to well!

Dinner last night was chicken in white wine sauce, new baby potatoes, carrots, green beans, broccolli and peas, chocolate birthday cake for dessert. I remembered to get the lamb out of the freezer last night to defrost - so lamb casserole is now cooking in the slow cooker, will serve it with mash, carrots, LO cauli/broc cheese, LO yorkshires. Birthday cake for dessert.

Work had times where we were horrendously busy and then really quiet - so now not too sure what to expect! Only working until lunchtime, so will come home and crack on. Did do an online shop to be delivered tomorrow afternoon so at least that helps with my time management tomorrow. Will get cracking with the washing, drying and ironing later. Need to pack tomorrow too for us and the boys.

Keep safe and well x

Morning :hello:

Julie Thanks for popping in and letting us know you're OK

There's lots of people not sleeping well (me included), it seems really odd.

I couldn't find any jumpers I liked yesterday, so bought leggings, thin white vests (to go under my white shirts – why are they always see-through?), pyjamas and a diary. I was going to make a diary but decided I needed a day to a page (I usually do a week on one page), my wirebinder doesn't bind that many pages so I bought one instead. Also did a shop in Iceland, lots of bread, milk, cereal, coffee and loo rolls. I needed to get it to £25 so they'd deliver it :D It'll keep us going for a while, I'm hoping to avoid big supermarkets for a few weeks – mr tru thinks we have to fill the trolley to the top even when we go weekly. Silly man.

Spreadsheets are up to date. One week into 2014 and everything's going to plan so far :rotfl:

Master tru gave me a few invoices and receipts, I'll get them done today. It'll only take a few minutes but I want everything recorded as it happens, can't be doing with playing catch-up.

I've started crocheting a cushion cover so will work on that later. The colours are a bit girly, that's not like me at all :D I'll make a matching blanket when it's finished.

I now have two baby holly bushes, one boy and one girl :D I have no idea how fast they grow but I'm looking forward to Christmas so I can use it in my house :D

I turned my webcam on yesterday – bluddy thing ages me 20 years  I immediately turned it off again :D

Morning all,

I've been up since 6 as DH had to be at the hospital at silly o'clock. My dad insisted on taking him so add guilt to the worry. The birds are tweeting away outside and it's a lovely sound. I must dig out my birdsong radio cd - sample here: http://www.ukdigitalradio.com/images/birds2.swf

Jobs for today include some plodders like making up the spare room bed, ironing and sorting paperwork.

I don't know about dinner as I don't know if they will keep him in or not so I'm glad there are quick things in the freezer.

Have the best day you can x
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
