It doesn't stop them all, there are terms (can't remember what off hand) but you still do get them, even enabling that option..0 -

thanks for the warning! not ever received an echeque yet, with or without enabling that option so hopefully wont get one either.
does make you wonder though, whats the point in having such an option if it wont block them0 -

Officially, we're not allowed to block echeques, only the yanks can.
In my experience, it's only the slow payers who pay by echeque :rolleyes:My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I didn't plan to be a slow payer though, I assumed it would go instantly as it always used to, also the option to add a card was add a "credit" card, not credit/debit so it's a bit confusing. Anyway, one of my sellers has replied saying they're happy to wait for the e-cheque to clear so that's fine by me, I let them know out of courtesy.Smokefree since 27-9-20070

That wasn't a dig - I meant that buyers who ignore your invoices for a week tend to be the ones the ones that eventually pay by echeque (to add insult to injury, as it were )My TV is broken!

Oh no I didn't think it was, just wanted to show that sometimes it's people like me who aren't very experienced and make a genuine c*ck up and end up stuck with it too!Smokefree since 27-9-20070

I agree, I've had one just do that  It infuriated me, I just wanted it over and done with, hence only accepting paypal - I'm too impatient to hang around0 -
Yeah echeques are a pain. I`ve just had 2 cleared. I didn`t realise you could disable this form of payment option so I`ll need to watch out for that in future. The buyer has been e-mailing me several times to ask if the funds are in my account yet as its been about 2 weeks although I did e-mail the seller staight away to say that the payment was received as an echeque and informed them the expected date of clearance. Their more trouble than what their worth!!!!0

In hopefully simple terms....
Buyer has no funds in Paypal account but has authorised Paypal to take funds from his/her bank account. Paypal then send the request to the buyer's bank who then send the money to the buyer's account and then it appears cleared in your account. This payment is called an "echeque".
Not always the case.
I have pp set up to take money from my account and it always goes through instantly. My payments have never gone through as an echeque.0 -
Echeque = paypal direct debit (their terminology).
I think people are being a bit harsh, ive paid for several items over the past two years because I couldnt pay by ANY other option. I didnt have a debit or credit card (I did when I set up the account, then had financial problems). Just because I use echeques doesnt mean im a bad ebayer and have no intention of paying (I have over 200 positive feedback in fact), or want the payment to take as long as possible but because I want to use ebay and dont feel I should be excluded just because I dont have a credit or debit card.
Also, the money has never taken more than four working days to leave my account but then it can take more than five or six working days to arrive with the seller - this is paypal being slow and not the buyer.0
