Moving Sky router ?

Can't seem to work out how to move the router upstairs as my Dell Vostro won't connect to the wifi, normal telephone extension wire is no good. Is the only option to run a very long ethernet cable upstairs? I only have the one telephone socket which is in the hallway.

Have you seen the offer for the free wifi booster that Sky currently have?
http://www.sky.com/products/kit/wireless-booster/
It basically rebroadcasts the wifi signal so you place it at the extreme of your current coverage and it creates a new signal.
Nothing to lose by getting one as it is free.0 -
Not a lot of people know that.

Thanks, just looked up Homeplugs, looks good although not sure if I have enough power points available as it recommends plugging directly into wall socket (only one upstairs which would have computer and printer in it)! The booster wouldn't work as its my Dell that won't connect even though it picks up the signal, tried numerous things but it just fails, Microsoft Help pinpoints it to the operating system but not even their auto fix helped, I have xp and pack 2 but it kept telling me I don't have pack 2! Will look into the Homeplugs as other than buying a new laptop it looks like the way to go.0

XP, good grief, time to upgrade, no more security upgrades as support will end in a few weeks.

If you have looked at homeplugs you will see that some have through mains connectors, and they are happy on extension strips as long as they are not filtered. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Thanks for info, didn't know about the XP. Think I will look at getting a new laptop - definitely not a Dell, nothing but problems since I bought it!0

November2--If your laptop is not to old just upgrade to windows 7 for about £70, but back up your data and note down keys to applications first0

No point in trying to upgrade a PC with XP, it has to be at least 10 years old otherwise it would have had Vista. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
