I have a Mobius camera, I can confirm I can use VLC ( the version = VLC media player 2.0.6 Twoflower) OK to play Mobius video both directly off the card or play files copied to the PC
camera video mode set to 30fps @ 1920x1080
with a class 4 card - which I think you will find is the recommended level for this cam - dont' need anything higher

This is on Win 7, dual core E5300 @ 2.60GHz + ATI radion HD4300/4500 series - not new kit by any standard

p.s - new camera f/w ver 1.13 now available + an update to mSetup - to add new advanced video settings - Mobius just keeps getting better and better
    useful Mobius forum thread here
    http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1904559

I have the same settings, and the camera already had the f/w version vi.13.

If you could point the way to where I will find the info about my computer that will be appreciated.

Bod, I agree. Unfortunately the OP wants someone to say his camera is faulty.

If the computer can't play sample files, it's the computer.
If he tries smaller files at lower resolution they will probably work.

He needs a new graphics card, more memory and a modern operating system.

I do not want "someone to say his camera is faulty.", I am happy with it, I just want it to play the videos through VLC

I do think I need to upgrade the computer,(will that help?), I think I may start a new thread re a new system.

Why do you not post us the version of windows? the version of vlc? are you ysubf external codecs? And a very short, less that 150Mb sample to http://www.datafilehost.com/, then post the link with the rest of your details?

secondly, you are dragging it from the card, to your pc?

    Windows XP Home Edition.
    2.1.2 rincewind
are you ysubf external codecs? What is this?

I have tried playing off the camera, off the card via a card reader and copying to the computer, all to no avail via VLC..

Go to Start then Run then type in MSinfo32.exe

What about trying the combined streaming/player version (Acestream Player)?

I have downloaded this and it plays the sound but the picture is just a still and does not move.

Looks again like a new computer

OK, your graphics card has 64MB of RAM on it. Min spec for VLC at 1080p is 256MB of graphics RAM.
Next on your list, you have 512MB of computer RAM. For a 500MB video, I'd really want 2GB of RAM (i.e. 4x that amount) as a starting point.

Those are probably the two main reasons why VLC is unable to play your video file.

Is there a quick fix or would you advise a complete upgrade? I am up for that.

How come other progs will play them?

Other programs will play because they are written in different ways and can manage memory differently too - it's not a failing of VLC, it is actually because it is more capable that it requires more resources..

The quick fix would be to buy more memory and a new graphics card. You'll spend maybe £50-£100, but you'll still have a computer running XP with a small hard disk.

Now, I'm not recommending Currys or this particular machine, but just saying that:

£350 will get you a new computer and monitor that would do the job nicely.
