Morning everyone. Posting a bit earlier than yesterday as I am at work today and what the boss don’t know won’ hurt him, haha.

Going on from yesterday, as I did post quite late, figured I would repeat myself (although I do this a lot at home with my kids, haha)

Lamewolf – do you do something about dogs' accommodation while you are on holiday? My whole family is going away in August and I really don't want to put my staff in kennels. She's 7 and never been in anything like that. My dog walker (yes, I know, not very OS, but it's hard when you are single, work and have two little sproglettes, so I don't mind) takes dogs into her house which is great as I hate the idea of doggie being in a cage, but in case she's fully booked up, wondered what other options are out there besides the cage route.

If anyone has some nice recipes for the following, would be appreciated (I did take most of the ideas from this thread):-

    Toad in the Hole
    Cheese Straws
    Slow Cook Lamb Stew
    Thai Chicken Curry
    Chicken Pasta Bake

    Chicken in White Wine Sauce

Also, as I’m using my slow cooker a lot more, if you find the sauce that you’ve made too thin, is there a way to thicken it? I have in my head cornflour an hour or so before serving, but not sure if I have made this up or not!

Bit annoyed with my brother this morning. I made bread and there was over half a loaf when I went to bed last so I didn’t make any more, only to get up this morning and he’s eaten so much that there was not enough for me to make a sandwich this morning. Grrrr!

Dinner tonight will be whatever my mum is cooking as she is minding my girlies for me.

JulieGeorgiana – mini cheese omelettes for the freezer? This sounds interesting. Never occurred to me that you could freeze eggs? Are they already cooked or do you freeze them raw?

Glitterkitty – wow, it sounds like you had a great time for your birthday. You have certainly made me think about going to the Harry Potter tour as it’s only down the road from me. I used to be into Harry Potter and read and reread the first few books, but then it started getting a bit too dark and gloomy for me. Started watching the Deathly Hallows films the other day, but haven’t finished yet. There was a time when I couldn’t wait for the films to come out!

    Morning all,

Happy birthday Nmlc. You share your birthday with my 'Youngest' who is 18 today. I hope you have a lovely day._party_

All household chores have been completed and ive had a bath. Not sure what to do with the rest of my day but I'm sure i'll find something to do.

Not much else to add really. I'll see what the day brings.

    Have a good day all.

I just saw your post on the tail end of yesterday's thread; good idea to re-post though, I don't always manage to do a catch-up. :oI've pm'd you, as I'm not allowed to put all the gen on the forum.:o

  • Afternoon all.

Bedrooms are tidy. I hoovered ds1s & my bedroom on my hands & knees. I now ache. But the rugs look good & there shouldn't be any dust bunnies hiding.

I need to have a good declutter of the children's room. Considering I decluttered to move here at the end of August last year, I find his astounding!

Happy birthday nmlc & to Judi's daughter x

Glitter kitty, glad you had a fantastic birthday. X

I'm 40 this year. Nothing planned. But am seeing Morten Harket so that's something to look forward to.

Need to clean the kitchen this afternoon as per the flylady thread instructions.

Dh is off again today. He's working from home. His eye is looking much better today. I hope none of us get conjunctivitis as well. He has been sleeping downstairs & he's been using separate towels.

I'm exhausted though. I can't sleep very well ATM. Don't know why. No reason at all.

We've had some dreadful rain here today but now the sun is out.

Dinner tonight is different things for us all, to use up bits. Dh has cottage pie from LO beef. Ds1 will have sausage, mash & beans. Ds2 will probably have pasta, ham & cheese (he's autistic & wants this every night). Me & dd will have what we can dig out of the freezer.

    Ok, will shut up now

    Love, hugs & spoons

    Morning All

    :bdaycake: nmic

PollyAnna - TintheH - Bero Basic Pouring Batter
    Pouring Batter Basic Recipe
    100 g (4 oz) Be-Ro Plain Flour
    pinch salt
    1 medium egg
300 ml (½ pint) milk (or milk and water)

1 Mix flour and salt in a basin, make a hollow in the centre and drop in egg.
2 Stir with a wooden spoon and add liquid gradually, until all the flour is worked in.
3 Beat well and add remaining liquid.
N.B. The consistency should be like single cream.
However, I use 2 eggs, a bit of black pepper, and a shaker as I am useless at getting it smooth, I found some in 99p Store before Xmas, Or a hand held mixer.
Suitable sized baking tin, put some oil or lard in, Oven 230C. Cut the Sausages in 2 (I use 4) but can be as many as you like. and put in the over until it is hot, and the fat smoking a bit, and this will partially cook the sausages. Pour in the batter, and put straight back in the over, about 20-30 mins I think, or until the YP mix is nice and brown.

Other recipes I will leave to those with more culinary expertise. but may be TintheH tonight.

Using up anything and everything, have 5 sausages and some eggs, so either a brunch or the above. Have some peppers and celery and tomatoes so may do some roasted veg to go with it.

Have done myself a cheese salad for lunch as no bread (forgot to put a loaf on) did a semi waldorf salad to go with it, celery, sultanas and walnuts, forgot the apple.

I am making a double batch of hot cross bun dough in the BM, but will just use it as spicy teacakes, though I would do it while the oven was on.

Trying to finish off the paperwork/shredding, on the up side of it, but that means I have done the easy stuff and other needs thinking about.

((hugs)), spoons, positive vibes all round. Take care everyone. DG

    Afternoon all,

    Happy Birthday Nmlc.

Glitterkitty, your day sounds like it was fun. I have never read or seen the harry potter series, but i know my sister has been with her eldest two.

Just back from visiting my parents where I played scrabble and drank mugs of tea.

Feeling flat today, think it's the dreary weather. So going to put my light box on in a moment together with some light music.

I am going to be 50 this year, cannot believe where the years have gone.

    Wm beeper is going.

Just taking a break to defrost my hands. Bread is rising and I have made mocha squares, just need to ice them now. I changed my mind about dinner when I was going through the freezer because I found some veg stew which will do us both, I'll have some pasta with it.
