Baffled that people would support this in any way at all
I agree that if they have a policy of no coppers then they know they are likely to shortchange people if their prices are not round numbers0 -
its a legal requirement that public houses display their prices in a prominent position and they can be fined for not charging those prices , maybe you should remind them of this ....................0

Information to be provided to consumers - prices and descriptions
Consumers need to be able to make an informed decision about making a purchase of food and/or drinks. The above Regulations have removed the specific requirements on pricing of food and drink services on premises. However, they do require you not to trade unfairly which includes not leaving out important information that may affect a customer's choice of purchase. In order for them to make this choice they must have access to the following information before they make the purchase:
Main characteristics of the product - For drink this will be a description of what it is and may include its brand name. For food this will be the name of the food and should include sufficient description of the item, or dish, for a consumer to make an informed choice.
Price - Including VAT and any additional service or other charge that has not been included.
Quantity - Size of drinks or specific portion sizes of foods (where appropriate).
Your trading name and details of ownership - Plus the address of the premises (unless this is obvious from the situation. This would include the need for such details in a price list that you send out from the premises).
How or where you display the information required above is not prescribed but it should be clear and easily readable by the average consumer. When the information is provided, it is important to enable a consumer to make an informed decision before they are committed to a purchase.
Failure to show all or part of the information necessary, or providing misleading information, may be regarded as an unfair trading practice and constitute an offence.

If you've got 25 people in your tiny corner of the bar wanting a drink, the last thing you want to be doing is faffing around counting out a few pence so that they can have their full change, which inevitably ends up in some charity pot or on the floor anyway when they stumble away.
Should do what they used to do in the nightclub I used to work in (Before EPOS tills) which was everything ended in either 5p or 0 much easier to add up in your head and to keep change for0 -
The price point is not useful at 4.79(or a total of) for not using copper change.0
-
Do one of two things:
- take your own surplus of coppers, if your due another penny give them 4p and ask for 5p back
- count up say 99p of coppers and hand over the bag with the rest of the money to make up the exact price0 -
I've never actually noticed this when going out but what has occured to me is everywhere I go all the prices end with a zero. That has got me thinking, if somewhere doesn't keep coppers then why do they have prices which would need coppers in the change? Surely do like the places I go to do, have the prices end with a zero.0

The op was charged the correct price of £4.79, they chose to offer £5.00 as payment and received 20p in change. There is no legal requirement to give change.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -

Pint in my local is £3.25.
JD and Coke in OH's place is £4.50, so I've noticed it will end with 0 or 5.
At the same time, there's no legal requirement for change, as already was mentioned.

Naughty I know, but if you know what your drink's going to cost you could always choose to pay in 1p pieces next time :rotfl:
or every time :beer:Be not so busy making a living that you forget to make a life0
