Using Unlocked iphone on 2 networks?

I was expecting to see an answer here to this... but maybe my searching skills are not up to scratch?

I've just purchased an unlocked iphone off ebay and it will be used on a SIM only T-Mobile contract in a few weeks time.

However, a temporary requirement has arisen for a spare phone for a family member who has an O2 contract.

My question is, if the unlocked phone is used on O2 will that then lock it to the O2 network or will it simply be a case of swapping the SIMs in a few weeks?

I'm happy for it to be used, but don't want to cause myself a problem.

Thanks

Kev

If its been officially unlocked via IMEI then it will not lock and you can swap as many times as you like.

You can check the lock status here for free

I wonder how 'sim-free' iPhones sold by CPW are shown there. They aren't locked when sold, but will lock themselves at the very first opportunity.

God knows, surely they would be classed as locked, I thought all iphones locked to the first network they connect to unless its an actual apple sim free version. Don't CPW just sell the standard iphones meant for contracts as sim free? (with a disclaimer saying it will lock etc...)

Also I think that site I posted is a live database so once the CPW phone locks the apple server will update that specific IMEI and show as locked

That was my point. Say, someone is selling on ebay an 'unlocked' unused iPhone bought from CPW...

You know what I was actually going to say that in my first post but didn't want to over complicate it, as a guess I'd say it would come up locked as the phone was intended to be a locked phone when shipped by apple.
