I think he ment npower should follow suit with passing on the reductions, as they are one of the last few to do so
They are also one of the few to announce all their customers will receive reductions. As far as I know only two suppliers have dated their intentions - hardly classifies as 'one of the last' yet.

For the last few years the excuses for increases was always the green levies or that they buy months in advance(which funnily enough does not generate as quick or as large a decrease on the occasions when they pre-buy cheaper). I guess now we will only get one of them pushed on us every time they put up tariffs(and they will even if wholesale costs go down). I don't think the utilities really wanted the government to call their bluff as they now have one less scapegoat to hide behind.

I might be wrong but there were only 2 that didn't announce reductions, that was Npower and SSE, the latter as just come out and said they are passing on the reduction,

the only one left is Npower as far as I can see

Any chance of a reply from the Npower company representative?

When will Npower customers find out how the reduction in green levy will be passed on by Npower?

Where did you read that? I have only read that the price per kWh will be reduced (and no reduction to the standing charge).

Why would you want npower to do the same? Why do you think this is better than other alternatives?
    here you go:

Had the figure slightly wrong. 42 rather than 38

so does the below mean for those who took out the fixed Npower march 2017 or dec 2017 deals get the reduction?

    What's happening for customers?

Here's what's happening for Npower customers:
    • Customers on a standard variable tariff (including prepay customers and those on discounted fixed-term variable tariffs) will see bills fall from 28 February. This is as a result of the Government reducing the cost of the Energy Company Obligation, an insulation scheme delivered by major energy suppliers. It's also due to electricity distribution companies taking voluntary action to reduce their charges. Typical dual fuel customers will see price cuts of £33/year.

Not sure whether there's a later thread than this, but if not this might be of interest.

npower are rebating the full £50 only to variable-rate customers. Fixed-rate customers will get only £12.

'Not acceptable' says Energy Minister, Greg Barker.

    Daily Telegraph 29 January:

Energy companies’ failure to pass on promised £50 bill reductions to all their customers is “not acceptable”, energy minister Greg Barker has said.

The Big Six energy giants all publicly agreed to cut bills as a result of a deal with the Government at the start of December to reduce green levies.

But four of the ‘Big Six’ energy suppliers – npower, ScottishPower, E.On and EDF – have said that they will only give the full £50 reduction to customers on variable-rate tariffs.

Unlike British Gas and SSE, they will not also reduce fixed price tariffs, although those customers will still receive a £12 rebate agreed as part of the deal.

Mr Barker told the BBC’s You and Yours programme he was unaware that some suppliers were not passing on the reduction and that this “would not be acceptable”.

No, the Mar, Dec 2017 tariffs are not fixed-discount they are fixed. The 'fixed discount' means the tracker style of tariff that is variable but with a discount off the standard tariff. These have now been banned.

Edit: (Oops, replying 28 days later to a bumped post. Still, quicker than a response from npower!)

My understanding is that they are passing on the discount but not if you have a fixed deal that pre-dates the increases on 1st Dec as you wouldn't have had the price rise so the discount wouldn't apply.

But it's not clear as usual with these kind of things.
