Cancelling AOL - please help

Morning.
I recently split with my partner and he took the computer etc with him when he moved. I had an AOL account which I pay £14.99 per month for through my credit card. I havent used this account for a while but I cant find out how to cancel it. I found a number for AOL Broadband but they dont want to know.
Question is does anyone have any idea how to cancel an account or, as I have a zero balance on said credit card apart from this annoying AOL thing every month should I just cancel the credit card (Cap 1) and that way the payments will stop?
Many thanks!

All I did was use the freephone number 0800 2796771, depends if you are out of the 12 month contract or not.0 -
All done. We will see whether it stops or not.0
