Sky LLU to BT Fibre

Hi All,

I'm currently with SKY phone, tv and broadband and have recently been notified that I can get fibre in my area. My question is how easy is it to transfer my phone and broadband back to BT keeping the same number? I had a look on the internet for some info but it appears there seems to be conflicting info on this but im sure i read somewhere that changing phone and broadband suppliers was going to be made easier?

My phone line was originally BT, then went to O2 then sky. I've heard sky like to hold onto your phone number so they can try keep you.

Sky don't 'own' your number, and there should be no issue with an LLU to BT transfer: it's a straighforward return to donor.
However, you don't need to go back to BT to get FTTC. Sky should also be able to upgrade you to FTTC if you wish, since they are simply reselling the same BT wholesale product.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Yeah sky want £50 for the activation and £20/month for the unlimited broadband, which i was considering but hubby would really like BT sports too, which sky is charging an extra £12/month. I though if i went to BT phone and BB it would work out cheaper (BT sports is free), they only want £30 for activation too. I've tried haggling with sky but they wont seem to budge and it appears i've missed the 6 months half price upgrade to fibre deal for exsisting customers too.

Would appear to be a Sinsburys £100 gift card with BT infinity if you are quick.

Tried giving your notice to Sky, rather than just haggling? The tier 1 drones don't have the power to give out the best deals, only retentions can do that.

Depends if Sky own any of the lines in whichever cabinet the OP is connected to. If they do then they may be able to, if not then they wont.

With switching back to BT, to keep your existing phone number BT may to do a Working Line Takeover which takes 7 working days. If you aren't fussed about keeping the number then that isn't a problem. These conditions have just altered so maybe its worth calling in and asking first.

In terms of activation fees from BT for the swap. If you opt for the Infinity 1 packages, either the limited 20GB option or the unlimited there will be a £30 activation fee + £6.95 for their new Fibre Home Hub 5. Or the Infinity 2 option theres just the delivery for the hub, the engineer activation fee is waived. The Sainsbury's vouchers are online only, if you phone in then you wont be eligible for the voucher.

    I hope that helps!
