Trying to work out differences...both 13kg bags, Acana Pacifica £62.90 and Orijen Fish (what I currently feed) £79.90 for a bag, slightly different feeding amount so working this out:
Acana Pacifica 3570 cal/kg so for a 36kg dog need 290 gram per day so a 13kg bag will last 44.8 days making the daily cost of feeding £1.40 per day so £42.00 per month
Orijen Fish 3980 cal/kg so for a 36kg dog need 260 gram per day so a 13kg bag will last 50 days making the cost of feeding £1.60 per day so £48 per month
£6.00 difference per month hardly any difference to be honest....
Just got in the mood of calculating all

 This is why I can't afford to feed either of those foods, on skinners ours only cost £25 a month to feed, that's for both dogs one at 32kg and one at 35kg, if I fed them either of those I'd be up to around £80 a month.
I know it's not the best food and I'd love to give them better but we supplement it with raw meat and fish once or twice a week, a tin of sardines once a week and a raw egg once a week. On top of that they get quite a bit of the veg offcuts from my cooking (shared between dogs, rabbits, bird feeder and compost bin).
I'd love to go completely raw but OH isn't keen and it would cost us a lot more than what we currently feed because we can't get a cheap local supplier that is still good quality.0 -
I know, it is pricey, however you look at this.
Cats get a tin of Animonda Carny between the 4 of them once per day and that is £35.00 per month.
Dry they get Taste of the Wild Canyon River Feeline which is £32.90 for a 6.8kg bag but I haven't got a clue how long a bag lasts as I free feed dry cat food so impossible to calculate.
Add £20.00 for 2 bags of litter for the cats per month.
Insurance for my whole lot is just over £220 per month.
Dog walker around £240.00 per month.
Oh, I also pay for my daughter's 2 cats so again food/litter etc (not counting)
Now my daughter's two are due for boosters/worming £100.00
My 4 cats and dog due for boosters worming end of Feb - asked the vets, around £50.00 EACH so around £250.00
Zara's Onsior is about £25.00 per month
I had a thread here somewhere how mcuh pets cost - may dig it out and update...

I'd be having a word in the vets ear 'cos he's either unaware of recent studies or he's ripping you off (unlikely but you never know)
The insurance co will be guided by your vets advice.
Vaccines should not be given needlessly. Core vaccines should not be given any more frequently than every three years after the 12
month booster injection following the puppy/kitten series, because the duration of immunity (DOI) is many years and may be up to the lifetime of the pet.
Taken from http://www.vmd.defra.gov.uk/pdf/WSAVAguidelines.pdf worth a read, you could possibly be doing more harm than good.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -
I keep on getting reminders from the vets, so does my daughter...
Need to actually probably call insurance and figure it out from them depending on what they say0 -

If you know the brand of vacc eg: Nobivac then email the manufacturer & ask them. As far as I know most have moved away from annual boosters.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -
will check the books, good point - if I had a confirmation from them - could use it in case of any issues from insurers just in case. Thanks for that.0

Many insurers nowadays ask that a pet is vaccinated in accordance with vet recommendations - so this allows the vaccination of pets every 2-3 years instead of annual. You'll need to check your policy though.0

Well yes, they want your £250!

My understanding is that insurers will only refuse to cover any illness which could have been prevented by updated vaccines0
