Trying to get a good deal with Orange, and failing!

My contract ended with Orange just before Christmas. I'm a reasonably light phone user (150 minutes, 100 texts, 250mb).

I phoned Orange and spoke to someone in retentions, and quoted a deal I'd seen (Galaxy S3, 300 minutes, 500mb for £17 on O2 through Carphone Warehouse). I want the extra data so the kids can use my phone for games when we're out.

She said she couldn't get anywhere near that deal, didn't offer anything else, and gave me my PAC code. I'd rather stay with Orange , I have good coverage and it's easier not to change! I hope if I phone back I might get a different response.

Any advice?
