If it's been worn 5 days a week for 3 months I wouldn't take it back to the shop. Perhaps she snagged it on something by accident and the hole's got bigger and bigger?
There's some old-style people on MSE who are very good at make-do and mending. If you post a piccie of the sleeve we can maybe see whether it is repairableThe report button is for abusive posts, not because you don't like someone, or their opinions0 -

Thats what i thought but the school disagreed.
We have never had an issue before, but i noticed a lot of mums were going to the office with uniform.
When i went in to get replacements they said there had been a dodgy batch and it had been reported - that was all!DebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j

Me neither in that situation!! Plus it sounds like it's been snagged rather than wear and tear. DD starts comp in September and will be needing wool jumpers rather than the sweatshirt type she has now, and I was planning on getting two or three, certainly not relying on one to get me through the year, surely it would fade and bobble at the very least with all the washing?!
JxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -
my god good my boys jumpers not only last more than a yr, they get passed down too!!!! I'd be fuming if their jumpers only lasted 3 mths.0

Yes but who would you blame... the child or the manufacturers? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

honest answer is unsure, without knowing which type of jumper it is, sweatshirt or pullover type? and seeing the actual hole.
If it's worn it will have a difference experience to snagged hole.
But given how long all four of my kids jumpers have lasted, DD had two new and a 2nd hand one that lasted her five yrs and I've already mentioned the boys lasting longer than yr and being passed down so I'd be questioning if they were fit for purpose if they wore out after only three months0 -

You are so lucky .. my daughter refused to wear a jumper (not cool) throughout two winters so her's is pristine. She is now in 6th form so the 2 jumpers are redundant anyway.0 -
My son is now in Year 10 and he's worn a jumper daily since year 7 (not the same one, obviously!) - there has never been a hole worn through at the elbow, and this is the first year I've got him 2 jumpers so I can alternate them for reasons of hygiene & freshness (OK, it's to ward off BO). Unfortunately he always makes a hole by the cuff to put his thumbs through...but the jumpers have always lasted at least a year with no wearing through. I'd definitely take it back, OP.0

Must admit my kids jumpers lasted a whole 12 months (I dont have tall kids) but I still wouldnt take it back after 3 months unless I could see an actual fault. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

If you think its a fault, Id take it back.. the worst that can happen is they say no and you have to buy one. Its not the end of the world really.*Loosing weight since September 2012 - 85lbs (6st) lost so far*
