My Pay Monthly contract with O2 ends on the 9th Jan and id like to keep my phone and switch to a lower Simplicity SIM only package - one priced at £16 per month.
I see quidco have some decent cashback rates for taking out pay-monthly SIM only tariffs - my question is though, am i able to order a SIM only deal through Quidco and keep my existing number - or would i have to deal directly with O2 to change my pay monthly contract, and thus miss out on Quidco?
thanks in advance for any help here.

The simplest method is to deal directly with O2.
To do it through Quidco and keep your number is a bit more convoluted.
You will need to get the PAC for your existing number, transfer it to a non O2 PAYG, get the simplicity contract via Quidco and then get the PAC from your PAYG and transfer to your new simplicity contract.
The reason being is that you can not use a PAC to transfer using the same provider. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
You probably won't be able to keep it directly via Quidco (and can if you do it directly woth o2).
There is an easy way to retain your number though, by porting it away from o2 onto another providers sim then back to o2.
You will need to decide whether the "decent" cashback makes this a worthwhile bit of hassle!
(See what sort of retention deal o2 offer if you let them do the switch)0 -
Thank you both for your advice - the quidco payment would be about £45 on a £16 pm trafiff, but rather than the hassle i think ill try and haggle something better/extra with )2 on their Simplicity SIM offer (which i think is currently 600mins/unlimited texts/750 of data with their current 50% extra offer).
Im not sure which tariffs might be better value from other providers, but ill try to look into it as ammunition when i come to haggle - does anyone happen to know whose tariff(s) i can play 02 off against on this?
Id definately want to stay with O2 for their phone reception, and for Priority Moments offers.0 -
In the retentions thread there were posts last year that they were giving £150 credits for staying with them and taking a 24 month sim only deal. (With no new handset)0
