Can you transfer texts from a mobile to a PC?

Hi all

Would anyone know if & how you can transfer texts from a Samsung GT-I5500 to a PC please? Quite a lot of them too - probably a few hundred.

The texts are required for various reasons but also for record purposes, so it's a sort of serious issue.

I've re-installed KIES but I find the thing useless most of the time. It syncs with the device but I can't see a way to access the texts.

Cheers

The KIES should let you back up the files but you may need to look for a EXPORT setting not a backup.

However all you will get will be text files, if you need to rely on a time date stamp in the phone that will probably be lost or converted to editable text in the transfer.

alternatively there may be SMS backup apps on the Play store, only you can decide what they records are worth to you and if you want to buy such software.

  • There is an app called "MyPhoneExplorer" which lets you transfer contacts, messages etc.

It needs to be installed on your PC as well as the phone but its free and very handy as a backup. You can then connect via USB, wireless or bluetooth.

And as Kies is such an appalling piece of !!!!!! this is what I use for my backup.

I use this too, it also comes in handy when you've forgotten your phone but have access to gmail though a computer.
