Clearing up credit file after DRO.

Apologies if this has been posted before but i'm trying to clear up my credit file since i was accepted for a DRO Sept 2012. Some of the debt that was included in the DRo is still showing as default. Ive rang round all the people i owed the money too and made them aware of the situation but some of it is still showing as default. Im currently checking my file through checkmyfile.com . This also shows what equifax and experian have on their systems, when looking at a certain debt (lloyds) it shows that it has been closed with experian but still says default on checkmyfile. Is this ok? Does it mean it has been closed? Its an absolute nightmare trying to clean this up. Also i called one of my debts and made them aware of the DRO and they said they can't close it and it will have to go down as a default? Surely they cant do that? Sorry for the essay i really dont know what to do. Thanks (hope i make sense)

There should be a default, but the default date must be no later than the start date of your DRO, and it must be marked in some way to show it is settled.

Thanks for your quick reply, so should i send this off to everyone on my DRO? How soon should they update my credit file?

    Thanks again.

Give them 28 days, then send them a final reminder if not sorted. If after another 28 days they havn't sorted it then make complaints via the Financial Ombusdman and Information Commissioner.

It all works on the same principle as the bankruptcy cleanup instructions that you can find in this link. -> https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/677875

Also another question, i moved shortly after i was discharged from DRO, so how should my address be on the letter? Or do i have to ring the insolvency service and get them to update my address then send me a new DRO out? Sorry i'm not too sure how it works.

    Eek!

OK. If you want to try to save some money and don't mind that it might take a bit longer, then you can try a few alternatives first.

    (a) - Add a notice of dispute on each entry via the Credit Reference Agency that show the wrong info. That should not cost you anything apart from an email or phone call.
    (b) - Email the cleanup letter to whatever customer service/complaints address you can find for each creditor.

Normally don't say to do (a) as it usually gets rejected as a complaint, and makes the process longer if you eventually need to write anyway,

Normally don't suggest (b) as recorded delivery letter is arguably a more reliable method and paper trail if it needs to go to a complaint.

But if you want to save some cash, the above may be worth a try first. Any that do get sorted that way is then a bonus.

Ok thanks so if i did go down the route of updating my file myself, what happens then? Does something get sent to the company for them to accept? Sorry for all the q's.

If you raise a dispute via the CRA, then they pass that on to the company. Is that what you mean?

Yeah, when you mentioned - (Add a notice of dispute on each entry via the Credit Reference Agency that show the wrong info. That should not cost you anything apart from an email or phone call.)

What happens then? Does it get passed to the relevant company? How will i find out if they accept what i put?

Again sorry for all the q's.
