Good Old Fergus!

Much as people dislike the Wilsons, they have a private business and are not responsible for social housing, so they can do what they want to with their houses...
Not sure why people mock them so much - are people forced to use their houses? Are there no other landlords around the area? Is anything illegal being done?0 -
i thought he'd claimed to have sold up at least once?
I know that 'different people like different things', but I can't begin to understand the motives that have been driving good ol' Fergus' this last decade or so. Men of his size and age are above all a dying breed, he should [imo] have long ago realized the immense good fortune he had in being bailed out by government & central bank in 2008, could have sold up on the 'cheap', pocketed no doubt a couple of tens of millions or whatever, lived out the rest of his years in, by any sensible standards, exceptional luxury. As it is he seems to have instead frittered away probably over half of the years left to him on, what, squeezing every last farthing out of tenants and trying to make sure that he gets out of this with several tens of millions rather than only say a couple???FACT.0 -
Fergus Wilson bans coloureds from his properties.

Looks like the answer is yes! Well, for now anyway, until we start dismantling the race relations [STRIKE]legislation[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]'bureaucracy'[/STRIKE] 'Red tape' post BREXIT'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

I wonder how he'll police that. A smell-related variant on the old apartheid 'pencil test', maybe?
Nice man, Fergus.
Wasn't he supposed to be on the verge of selling up, anyway?FACT.0 -
More Fergus fun, that man loves to make his tenants suffer.

Thought this man sold up and became rich beyond his wildest dreams (according to some on here) why is he still faffing about with tenants?0 -
Who on here said "this man sold up and became rich beyond his wildest dreams"? Names and occasions, please.
IIRC the consensus view round here on Fergus is that he has excessive geographical and sectoral concentration, making his a hard-to-impossible portfolio to offload other than piecemeal. He does, however, prove that BTL doesn't inflate house prices, as prices in Ashford are no different to those in other Kentish towns in which he doesn't own 1,000 houses.0 -

Not sure thats correct when you consider that the housing market in Ashford is not typical of the South East because of the thousands of new builds that have been built in the past 10-15yrs.
I'd be interested to know how many new builds have been built in other Kent towns such as Maidstone,Tunbridge Wells etc and compare them to Ashford which my father in Law remembers when it was a village..
The only reason he hasn't inflated the market around Ashford its purely down to volume of new builds so its actually got nothing to do with Fergus and his business model.
Do you know him personally and do you ever go to Ashford?..I do on both counts..............;)
There is a new development starting soon (Chilmington Green) in Ashford which will add a further 5700 houses to the mix so maybe you could get in early and become the new Fergus..0
