Does my insurance cover this???
Hi
I lost my EE monthly contract phone while in Barcelona in November. By the time I noticed it missing and me reporting lost to EE (3 hours) somebody racked up £300 worth of calls.
I have insurance with EE, but they inform me I am not covered until I report the phone lost/stolen. When I reported it to EE there was no mention of any phone activity while the phone was missing.
So you can imagine my shock when I had £400 bill last week!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

They are correct , you are responsible until it's reported stolen although they may make a goodwill gesture and reduce the billEx forum ambassador

EE wouldn't have known the activity when you called to report it lost.
The network you were roaming on in Barcelona would only send the billing info through to EE once every 24/48 hours, rather than the realtime billing you're in the UK.0 -

There are usually 2 reporting requirements when a phone is lost or stolen for insurance. First report it to the network so the sim can be blocked and then report it to the police to get a lost property or crime ref number.
I assume that it's the former you need so maybe you could try getting in touch with the Spanish police to see if you can make the report to them by email or over the phone.
If you can do that you should have done all that is required. However, most insurance policies stipulate that contacting the police is done within a reasonable period if time. If you've left it a while then there may be no point in trying and hoping for some goodwill from EE could be your best bet.0 -
I'm presuming that you failed to use a PIN lock on the SIM then?No free lunch, and no free laptop
