    yes yes we can!

Even though the price of houses are out of reach of the everyday worker like teachers, police, fire service etc prices will continue to rise as they have done....thats a fact

in other news - an Englishman won wimbledon..... a ginger bird won miss world and evryone in the middle east became bestest mates :)

    *Hip! Hip!, Hurrah!!

Good to see another higher house price cheerleader on the boards.

Dont know what people are complaining about, high house prices make everyone wealthy beyond their wildest dreams!! All, the London folk will have that much money from their house price wealth from the Olympics, they won't know what to do with it (why they're complaining about the increase in council tax to pay for it, i dont know, it's a form of compulsory investment)
I've an idea on that part, why dont they let some of that high house price wealth go tawards paying off the country's massive debts,

we'll be the richest country in the world, ever!:money: :T

    *Sarcasm detector overloaded!

So would you say most homes are bought on one salary?......No, so add her income to yours and i'm sure you will find that you can afford a home, possibly might even have enough left over for BTL.

Stop trying to move the goal posts theres a lot of people watching you.

You said a completly incorrect statement.

Just because house prices have risen, means families are able to help each other get on the property ladder.
As in "my dad's has gone up, so he can get a bigger loan from the bank and give me the cash"?

You shouldn't put stuff like this on an open forum - somebody working for a bank will spot it and realise they're being had...

olympic spin will continue things will fall apart JUST after the games I think.

Its boring... all the deprived places and people that really need the investment and employment are not likely to get it.....

Good chance of "we want lots more quids an hour to finish on time guv" - they won't have the same leeway as Wemberlee will they?

Not sure how its going to increase demand for housing though - presumably they'll have an entire olympic village to flog in 2012.1.

I am less hopeful about the olympics raising house prices but as I have just bought in crystal palace, i am hoping that that tube extension will boost prices in that area when it comes about in 3yrs.

The tube extension will boost prices and it could be a saving grace if the market is heading down at the time. A lot will depend on sentiment. If people are thinking "why should I buy in a stagnating/falling market" it may dampen the boost from new transport links but if crystal palace has not shot up too steeply over the past few years and is not overpriced, the effect of the tube extension should be amplified.

Are you joking? Hype over the tube extension has already sent prices sky rocketing over the last couple of years! I bought a 2 bed flat near the train station last year for £127,500 - you'll be lucky to get a studio flat for that now!

It's pure speculation and it's all the EAs are talking about, whipping FTBs into a frenzy. I cannot see there being very much more room for manouvre unless all the investment that was supposed to be going in to the entrance to the park and surrounding area actually appears and makes it the leafy, desirable area it could be. Otherwise, prices aren't going much higher for a long while yet.
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Considering we now seem to lack the ability to get anything done on time in this country:

    The British library
    The channel tunnel
    The Child Support Agency
    Tax Credits
    Womble stadium
    The NHS computer system
    HIPS

This project will make interesting reading over the next few years!

    Ending in PANIC PANIC PANIC!!!
