Thanks for the feedback on freezing milk. I would prefer not to freeze, but now that I have started getting my milk at Lidl (£1 for 4 pts) I resent paying £1.39 for the same thing in Sainsburys. But its not close enough to pop in when stocks run low.

Perhaps I'll give it a go next week if this lot doesn't last the week.

    Another NSD here.
We had LO chicken - FF + roast potatoes/parsnip + cabbage + carrots + stuffing + gravy for dinner. There was 1 sprout lurking in the veg box - went on my plate.

  • £13.85spends today between L*dl and M*rrisons. Got everything I said on here the other day, plus rocket (my supermarket gave me an alternative suggestion. I couldn't see properly though but it wasnt the right thing up close when the shopping came, and definitely cheaper in L*dl anyway). Also got reduced fat brie.In Mr M got bogof grapes and YS buttermilk x two (one of which I used tonight to make cherry, almond and choc chip scones)

Another NSD .... But butcher delivered my meat order so have to pop in and pay for it and not sure what it will be yet, plenty saved from January GC so I'm not too worried about it as it's going to last us for the next few months I hope!

I've already made 4 lots of butter chicken ( DH isn't keen on hot curry and the packets from HB are just right), 2 lots of chicken tikka, 4 lots of mince/veg to make either shepherds pies, or just pies, and 4 lots of chicken chasseur and cooked 4 lots of stewing beef to make into pies. They have all gone in the freezer.

When I'm feeling ok I try and do as many meals, or parts of meals, to put in the freezer, for the times when I'm too tired to cook. It works for us, and there is always something that DH can take out when he has to cook.

The wind and rain is bad here again tonight...I feel so sorry for all people down South and in Wales, they must be wondering if it's ever going to end.

Everyone seems to be doing well, or trying their best, on this challenge, and all very supportive...it's lovely to be part of it x

  • Lasagne I made during my batch cook today went down well, I dished up smaller portions than I would have in the past with side salad and cheap garlic bread. My friend brought a really tasty chocolate cheesecake for pudding (still half in the fridge) and some chocolate treats for the boys which was extra appreciated as I have cut back so much on this sort of thing.

Need some bread flour milk and a few salad bits which I may try and get in my lunch hour tomorrow otherwise will dart out as soon as I get in about 7, actually that may be a better bet for possible YS bargains. What time of day do you all find is best for YS items?

Went through my freezer again today and sorted it into different sections so I know exactly where everything is, hoping this will mean I can tell hubby where things are as well ( he is one of those incapable of looking for anything himself preferring to be told exactly where it is).
