Hello all, I'm finally over here. January felt like the longest month ever, I'm glad to see a fresh new February :)
My budget this month is £240, again this is for all food, toiletries, cleaning products, treats out (i.e. coffees, sandwiches), dog food, hamster food and sawdust, children's snack money for school each week etc. I was over budget last month, but as it was my first month and closer to 4.5 weeks, I let myself off ;)
I need to do a decent Lidl shop today as the cupboards and fridge are pretty bare and we need toilet rolls, binbags and soap powder etc. I do have a £5 off £40 spend courtesy of The Sun which I will use this afternoon, so that's my soap powder bought!

The end of last months aim went a bit downhill. So I am back on for £150 for me, my partner and 9 year old son - I am pregnant so eating lots more than usual but that will be replaced by a little mouth eating us out of house and home. LOL :)

My asda yesterday had piles of reduced tinned fruit, soup, rice pudding
all at 10p, I bought 24 cans, strawberrys, prunes, fruit cocktail, peaches.

Stocked up on milk, fruit and veg cheese and eggs. and a reduced chicken, Total spend £15 but feel I got a lot for my money.

My DD and DGD have challenged me to a healthy eating competition
the first one to lose 7lbs gets to choose where we go for a posh lunch.
so my meal pan will be heavy on fruit and veg for the next few weeks.

Fruit is very heavy in sugar (as is some veg such as butternut squash), so should be eaten in moderation. I've been strongly advised to replace as much fruit as possible with (low sugar) veg even though it's natural and not refined sugar, and that was before I was told I'm at high risk of type 2 diabetes. I'm currently aiming for at least 7 portions of f&v a day, with no more than 1 from fruit.

  • £14.85 in Mr T's and £9 at the market today. I've bought enough for my DD's pack lunch for the next couple of weeks, saves me popping into tesco. I just need to buy bits for her sandwiches and fruit.

£46.18 so far. Ahhh and we're only on the 1st Feb. However I do have enough food in to last :).
