my BT RETENTION OFFER

Options
My contract with BT expires on 5th Jan so rang them to see what they could potentially offer
I currently have my line rental paid upfront for 12 months and have option 3 broadband with weekend/ evening calls for £13.65 12 month contract

My Ds plays online gaming so have heavy usage

they have offered me the same price £13.65 for option 3 broadband but no inclusive calls
and £141.. for annual line rental instead of the £120 it was last year (i was aware this was going up in price through the media )

my only other provider is plusnet and its about the same price with slightly cheaper line rental £131.88 though there is potential for cash back if i switch with quidco

is it likely i could squeeze any more offers from BT i would of liked to retain evening ? weekend calls they are offering new customers vouchers

be great to hear from anyone who has been offered anything recently to stay with bt or what yout thoughts are if this is a good offer with my limited providers
cheers
JD

    Hi jammy dodger,

Yes, thats what I was paying for option 3 too. Its a good price compared to the full one. I'm now on Infinity unlimited at £23. And was offered a YouView box for £25 as well. BT don't discount line rental though.

Have you actually rang Plusnet to see what they'll offer you over the phone? Nowt to lose and all that.

Whilst everyone usually knocks Talk Talk, all I can say is over 3 years i've had some excellent deals and reasonable Line Rental upfront charges.

Why don't you give TT a go, they are much cheaper than BT on all regular services, including TV package.

Primus were actually offering cheaper telephone and BB package than TT, rang up "retentions" on behalf of OAP parents to get better deal, expected to be paying around £15,00 per month inclusive of Line Rental for any time calls package with IDD boost - guess what, TT have actually dropped Line Rental charges as folk have been with them and Tiscali for ages - so now paying £7.25 per month - THat's a big saving - nearly fell off chair when chap dropped the line charge though, so folks are now saving approx. £160 per year, i.e., full 12 months service with all charges was £288, now just £7.25 - now to squeeze them on mobile phone charges from parents line!!!!!!!!

Probably of no help to you but I have just come off phone to PlusNet retention team and they have given me 16GB for less than I was paying for 10GB i.e. was paying £2.99 now it is £2.50. Will renew landline in March. They will also be letting me keep free evening and weekend calls. Sorry if I am doing this incorrectly, it is my first post and I am stupid with computers.
When confirmation came through it was actually upgraded to unlimited broadband.

sadly editor1 I cant get talk talk its such a small exchange and according to \"samknows\" i can only get broadband from Bt , plusnet or orange

when i put my postcode in for plusnet Deleted User the \"from £2.50\" offer goes up to £9.50 for 12 months then up to £18 for the remaining 6 months of an 18 month contract
so no huge savings to be had there
guess as there is little competition they can rip us off er i mean charge more ;)

its a shame i cant get light usage its only high when son is home from university

i shalll ring plusnet on monday though and see if they can give me a better deal than the one showing online

thanks for sharing your experiences though

No, you can get your broadband from any of dozens of BT resellers too, of which Plusnet and Horange are just two examples. Samknows normally just lists the LLU providers, as the rest are universal.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

You'll pretty much need to take line rental and broadband from the same provider to get the best deal as most will increase the broadband price if you don't use them for the line. Unless you go for one of the tiny resellers I suppose.

I called BT today and I have renewed option 3 for £13.65 (plus Unlimited Weekend Calls £15.99, total £29.64)
It’s the same that I was paying, I was not gonna pay a penny more if they asked.. I would’ve looked elsewhere.
