We have a home bargains garden centre. Way to go. Anyway, having not grown cucumbers successfully, I now have three plants donated to me by a kind neighbour. We'll see how they go.
I really want to get out in the garden and do potting on and stuff but the weather is just meh!Spend less now, work less later.0 -
A bit frustrated today, the mower is on it's last legs and so is my body, only got half of the jobs done and my garden is screaming with weeds (nettles, dock, thistles and buttercups) . OH did 10 minutes of digging , then left with the comment "my back hurts" - well....so does mine!
Still managed to pot on all the cucumbers and half of the tomatoes. One squash is peeking out, yippieh!
Enjoy your cucumbers ,Jazee! I grow mine in the tunnel in a well-pummelled and upturned growbag each up a frame hanging from the roof of the tunnel. I love how I can watch them grow miles each day.First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -
Hoping you're feel better soon HappyGreen, anyone you could borrow a mower from to get the job done?
Keeps clouding over with storm clouds here, had torrential downpours yesterday so got naff all done. Think we're in for more of the same today
Opened up my greenhouse for some air and my sweet basil is now doing really well, as too is my coriander, pak choi is moving forward and my radishes are looking like theyve produced as well. HUZZAH! Soon to be my first harvested crop, YAY.Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
CAFGirl, I took a day out
, thanks for asking. OH promised to have a look at it. I'm glad it was raining today as I was away for a course. On the way home stopped by at Lidl's and swooped up 2 pepper plants as mine hadn't germinated. I'm proud that I didn't buy 4 for £ 5 although it would have been a saving of a quid instead of 2 but I wouldn't have the space for 4 , so £ 2 saved!

Been absent, as now have everything pretty much sorted for the move, which happens this week.
That's cracking, as next weekend I'll put the greenhouses up, stock them full of the tomatoes & lettuce already planted, & sow loads more lettuce.
Will have a think about sowing carrots and/or sprouts for a winter harvest across the next 2 weeks. A lot of the decision there relies on the condition of the garden when I move in though. Saw the grass last monday, & that alone made me
MrBE not about much? It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Potted on my sweet basil, coriander, 9 chilli seedlings, 12 sweet pepper seedlings. Have also sown some carrots in a tub - will see what happens.
Wanted to try to use the best containers for the jobs, so didnt want to waste one that has depth on surface dwelling veg. Am going through my seed bag today so I can see what else I have going, as Ive still got some planters left. I need some shade loving things that as my sun spots are full up!Wealth is not measured by currency0 -

I want to grow sprouts for winter... I am running out of space though
well, I HAVE run out of space. Anyone grew sprouts in containers before? I guess that is always an option.
I have been out in the drizzle today preparing my squash beds. I am hardening off the pumpkins, b.squashes and gherkins and will be out this time next week. Everything is going to be grown upwards, little scary.. just hope it works out!!This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
