May onwards is the usual time for sowing them. I have been known to chance a few in April but you're further south than me, is yours a local IOW packet?
My packet says sow May/June onwards or mid April indoors or undercover.
Or are yours going in a heated greenhouse maybe?

Uh-oh...the seeds came from a local garden centre. They are being grown indoors and then will go into containers in the garden when they are bigger. It is very mild here on the island....usually see people offering excess bean or tomato plants from end of April onwards so maybe they do start them earlier here...watch this space - I may have a nice early start to fresh beans ...............or a complete disaster :rotfl:Saving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

it is rather early for beans, but if you can keep them indoors for as long as poss, protect from frost then you will have the pleasure of picking fresh beans early..well worth the chance of a couple of seeds...don't forget to save a few seeds at the end of the season for next Februarys sowing!0

They don't have a calendar so I am hoping they don't know it's too early :rotfl:
Another one has started poking it's little head out now too and the beetroot are just peeping as well. I am so excited in the morning when I open the curtains and see new shoots - do you think this is what a midwife feels like when they deliver a baby? :rotfl:
Shall definitely remember to keep some seeds for next years crop, shall try to do that with everything I can.
Today was gorgeous though, fingers crossed that spring has sprung!Saving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

My toms and a few chillis are up, feels like the growing season has now started
Looking dry here for the rest of the week after tonight, so hopefully by the weekend the soil won't stick to my boots any more and I can start clearing, sorting and planting out there on Saturday.0 -
It has absolutely poured with rain for the last two days - seriously this weather is getting boring now. They have forcast a freeze for tonight???
Everything in the house is coming up great guns - all doing really well. Think I may be potting on at the weekend especially for the lettuce which I am hoping will come in nice and early. Should my tomato seeds be up yet? How long do they take to show shoots? Never grown them from seeds before. Chose Moneymaker as my mum used to grow them very succesfully.Saving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal
