Parking ticket for exceeding time limit for a restaurant

My father visited a macdonalds restaurant on the 28th december near the 02 area where they had 1:30 mins free parking to drop a friend off for a show, and came back to the same restaurant later on in the evening. However today he was given a parking notice by met parking services of exceeding the 1:30 min as they counted from the first time he entered but not from when he left and when he came back the second time. He paid by card twice which would show up his statement. Is there anything else he can do?

Check the Parking forum, there's loads of information about what you can do: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163
    Yes Your Dukeiness :D
  • Thank yo I will post there- I didn't know there was a separate section!
  • Apparently it's called 'double dipping'. You'd think these systems could calculate 2 different visits rather than treating a later visit as the same visit.

I'm sure Mcdonalds must lose money by people not wanting to return again later the same day in case they get charged twice.

This could be a case of a no return within x time policy! ANPR systems are manually checked in most cases, and a simple letter to Met Parking without disclosing driver details but informing them the vehicle visited twice that day with approximate timings should serve to get the PCN cancelled. IF it doesn't complain to The British Parking Association (BPA).
