Having bought a Kindle, and often buying goods from Amazon, I thought I would sign up for the Amazon Prime service, especially as it offers the Kindle lenders' library.
However, looking at the small print it offers thousands of books to borrow 'with a frequency of UP TO 12 A YEAR'.....so only one loan book per month!?

That is what it says, yes. Did you not read the details before signing up?0

Perhaps I'm missing something - but sounds to me like the OP has read the details before signing up, seen that there would be a potential issue if they did sign up; and has then kindly posted here to let people know.

You wouldn't sign up to Amazon Prime just to get the Kindle lenders library. It's only really worth signing up if you would get enough value from the unlimited one day delivery.
If you want to load up on Kindle books Amazon offer a few titles every day in their Kindle Deal of the Day.0 -
I subscribe to Amazon prime and have just renewed for my second year. I have never used the kindle lending library, I've looked through it and found it hard to organise the titles to see what I can get and most of the books I've never heard of. As someone who likes to read classical/literary literature most of the books I want to read are free anyway.
I think the flagship books for the lending library are the Harry potter series. Or at least they were, if they're not now.
I have had more than my money's worth of free next day delivery - both me and my partner work patternless shifts so its important to me to know precisely what day it'll come, and even a small item can cost £7, so paying only £50 a year is an absolute bargain.0 -
yep, it's one book a month and you have to 'return' the last one before you can get a new one.
like others i've got prime anyway so it's a useful perk to be able to read the harry potters in turn - think to purchase the set of the e-books is like £40 or something ridiculousLittle Lowe born January 2014 at 36+6

Yes, I will probably get the use of the Prime delivery savings, but was just warning folks here that the Kindle lending library was not quite as generous as it could initially appear be!

Yeah it is £40, but I paid for all the books over a period of about 3 months to spread the cost and enjoyed reading them and I'm sure I'll read them again. I'm too quick a reader to do it via the lending library, yet I did find them ridiculously expensive. And you can't even buy them from amazon, you have to set up a pottermore account... Rowling just can't let Harry potter go.0 -

Why would she want to?
The HP books are one of the best selling series in writing history and probably one of the most profitable as well so I'm not in the least bit surprised that the author wishes to keep hold of the rights as long as possible.0 -

I have them all in paperback but shortly afterwards I got an ereader and so had no issue with rounding up an ecopy (I am not going to pay for them a second time).35, semi retired, sun, sand, sea, life is good
