Hi
I dont know if anyone can help but here goes..
I ordered a contract sim with orange from an online mobile phone company called mobilesdirect. When it arrived i had changed my mind and decided to send it back. I contacted the company and they said i could return within seven days. I returned the sim within seven days but by the time the sim got delivered, was processed at their warehouse and they made an attempt to disconnect the network, the network was already connected two days and now orange are trying to charge me a disconnection fee. What i want to know is as i have no control on how long the sim sits at mobilesdirect warehouse before they bother to make an attempt to disconnect should i have to pay the disconnection fee? and how does this work with my rights to be able to return stuff within seven days with the distance selling rules.

DSR give you 7 working days to return the sim card without any charges. It's mobilesdirect problem to sort everything out with Orange.
This is provided that you have not started using the sim before returning it.0 -
Thanks for the reply. Yeah i forgot to say that i never used the sim. This has been going on since the fourth of november now when i returned the sim0

In fact 7 working days were just for notifying mobilesdirect about cancellation. The sim card could have been returned later within reasonable time.0

Thanks. I notified them the very next day after i received it. I find it strange that there policy is not to disconnect as soon as they are notified of a return but to wait to after it has been processed by their warehouse which could take a fair while. Orange are not interested in the situation and and i cant even get a replacement sim from the online company. The bills are still coming in as the sim is still not been disconnected.0
